I've allways wanted an E39 M5 in black but I think an M3 would probably be better unless you really want space in the back. Lots of m5's seem to have needed rebuilds which would put me off too as it's a scary thought. I guess the extra weight over a 3 would be enough to make them pretty evenly...
I just wanted to let people know that thanks to jsthomson's advice on here I've just got 2 replacement locking wheel nut adapters direct from Italy off the farad website. £25 delivered and only took 5 days. Better than 5 weeks!!
The problem with my 185 55's is that they are too compromised for everyday winter driving when it's dry and sunny. The sidewalls are really soft and you might as well be driving any old Clio.
I've used winter tyres on 15" steels loads on my T. That's all I could get at the time in Germany. They are something like 185 55 15's so obviously not ideal for general uk winter weather as the grip available is not as good and they are very soft. In the snow though they are night and day...
Sorry I think I'll have to give this a miss. I thought I could replace a kerbed alloy but as I really want to try the hankook rs2's this would be more useful to someone sticking to pe2's.
Thanks.
I don't suppose anyone knows the trimmers name do they? I'm not on cliosport but I do work in the Aston design studio ;-). Our trimmer (Doug) doesn't do private jobs unfortunately so I guess it's someone from the production line.
One of my thumbgrips is flapping around now! K-tec don't do the...
Jools, you can't help yourself! If I'm 'driving' then I'll sit between 4500 and 6500 so it wouldn't make any difference. I'd rather spend the cash on a diff if I had it.
This looks like a very good product at a reasonable price to me. It occupies the middle ground between a new intake and remap and full on throttle bodies etc. The graph also looks really good. If I had a standard 182 and wanted to tune it this would suit me.
Harrat21 has a good point though...
If the car feels good and they haven't lost oil or pressure (the reservoir drops in it's bracket so that it's touching rather than a 4 - 5mm gap) then I wouldn't stress about it. My nearside went at 83k.
The power steering sensor is roughly behind the drivers side headlight if iremember. Slightly further in. It's an electrical connection t'd into the hydraulics. You can easily see if it's leaking - see the picture in the recent thread.
Check it's not just water from the air con?
Yes thats usefull thanks. Makes it a bit difficult though if they wont supply parts as who knows whats going on inside the damper? It sounds as though BG have replaced a few rods etc.
Thanks. I was very lucky - what an idiot!
Looking at the damper refurb thread I think the guy that rebuilt the heritage cars dampers was Paul Drake in Newbury. He couldn't remember details at the time but confirmed it was a Koni specialist.
How embarrassing! When I first had the vibration i came in and gave everything a good feel. Wheels and nuts felt tight with the weight of the car on them. If only I'd got the wheel wrench out I would have realised that the nearside front was working loose!! I'm embarrassed to admit this but at...
Also good to see Steve again and met a cliosport / Renaultsport member called Liam who was very helpful. He used to look after the Renault heritage cars and told me they had their dampers refurbed in Northampton pretty cheaply :-). I think this place was mentioned on here before.
Hi Pete.
It was good to meet you too. The 200's certainly looked like fun on track. I could see the back end moving around quite a lot at Abbey. Let us know how you get on in Belgium. Sounds like a great trip.
It was always going to be a frustrating evening for me. My nearside damper went...
That's a shame. I was expecting them to be ideal for driving to the ring or an evening on track without changing the wheels. Are the sidewalls stiff enough to stop the shoulders from getting warn out on track? A guy at work recently put them on his integra and said they were much softer than the...
Great news :-).
I nearly sold my motorbike last yeat when things were very tight. I would have been absolutely gutted!
How are you finding the hankooks?
I had a bit of a nightmare replacing the alternator as the part always turned up wrong. I had the old one rebuilt in the end. About £120 I think.
Whats the deal with the owner? For all we know it could have been well cared for for 2 years (serviced at 12,500) And then garaged at 25,000. If...
