Saw you today (Sunday afternoon) but I was in a fiesta. My other half reckons I should get an exhaust like yours as we both get annoyed by my Orbisoud on long journeys. Yours didn't sound too loud and I've just started doing 70 miles a day commuting so I would be interested to hear what you...
If you want more comfort for long journeys you can soften the rear fully and it still drives reasonably well but it's much more comfortable. I never go below about 25 from soft at the front though because it doesn't feel very responsive. Just wind them right up on track and then go from there...
The whiteline is a great mod and mine has no problems after 3 years and many miles. Along with the front camber it transforms the balance of the car. I've always fancied trying some spacers so that the wheels seem to fill the front arches again but not done it. I'd say the rear koni's would be...
Hoolio, that's what I meant the ducting would cover but I don't think they can do much there as the splitter would block decent airflow. It does mean I don't have to cut holes in the liners which is a bonus yes.
Thanks guys. I did wonder if a duct would block air flow through the holes in the floor in front of the wheelarch but I can't imagine much air flows through there anyway. I guess Dave's solution would solve that by taking the liners out but it seems a shame. I've already taken the fogs out so...
I'm after anyone's experiences with fitting brake ducts in the Clio fog light holes. Does it make a worthwhile difference to brake cooling? Did you fit a collar on the front facing straight ahead to help catch the air or just ducting back from the holes? I imagine that fitting the ducts from a...
88k and counting. I intended it to be a second car long ago but got hit by the credit crunch! It's not an ideal motorway cruiser with an orb and MF suspension but I wouldn't change it :-)
I agree with that but there's some great sections which will be fun even if I get overtaken by everything. On my bike I think becketts is one of the best sections of track anywhere so I hope it's good in the Trophy. I won't be reaching 160 on the following straight though :-)
Fair enough Danny if the drop in economy is thermostat based but I wouldn't want anyone thinking they are going to get 35 - 40 mpg from a new one as low 30's is realistic for your average member on here.
I think Danny is having a laugh or trying to sell a load of thermostats. If your getting near 40mpg you've bought the wrong car. In my 87,000 miles since new I have managed near 40mpg once when following someone in a 1.2 fiesta on a long journey. I have been getting 29 recently but 31 is normal...
Front wheels carry two thirds of the weight and do all the accelerating and changing direction plus most of the braking. The rear will just follow the front unless provoked so it's best to give grip to the front and drive smoothly.
I wonder if your mate practices what he preaches or if he's...
I think lots of people on the forums have confused 5 and 5.1 to the point where many people have spread the word that 5.1 needs replacing every 6 months.
Some good pictures there. Glad to see a well used T. Mine has only done 86k :-). Had a whiteline ARB on mine for a few years and loved the handling with some negative camber up front (now MF too). Someone gave it a bad rep on here which put people off but it really changes the balance of the car...
My hc discs have lasted probably 40k, but I will try the Max next like quicksilver in the hope of clearing water faster. That said I would spend more on the pads than the discs.
Fair enough, I understand what you are saying - understeer is safer. I prefer the car a bit more nuetral to tail happy and I'm sure I'm not alone. The trophy isn't exactly an animal in normal conditions. I've got winter tyres too and they are amazing in the snow!
I stand by my comments. I know the PC line is to fit new tyres to the rear but this is a site for enthusiasts. The point I was trying to make about confidence is that only you know how you drive. If you like to work the car to the limit then you'll be looking for front end grip but if the idea...
I agree. If you are a confident driver then it's best to have more grip on the front. If the thought of that scares you then put them on the rear and be confident that the rear will stay in check but you will have less grip overall.
No reason not to swap front and rear wheels.
Front camber and the whiteline rear ARB make a really good road setup. I loved mine but it still rolled more than I would like so I went with the Mark Fish setup of springs and the revalved rear dampers (just in case I ever make it back to the ring).
I had mine machined at angelworks a couple of years ago and was pleased with the result. Much more difference than my orbisoud! Better mid range pick up on mine.
I bought oil, spark plugs and brake fluid in the last deal. Great service as I ordered it on Wednesday morning and it arrived at 9am on Friday. Much quicker than when I used them a couple of years ago and still good value. Thanks.
Mark fish sells slightly stiffer lowering springs and adjustable koni rears. They only lower the car 10 - 15mm at the front and a little more at the back. Quite a difference but it's still a road car. They are rumoured to be eibach and stealthsport have mentioned offering a similar setup I...
