Just check everything is tight BEFORE you ride it. I've bought mail order bikes and often things like Cranks, brake hoses etc are not properly tightened. It's better to deal with the problem before you take it out. After a few rides you could get it serviced if you don't fancy adjusting things...
My advice would be to wait for a Maxogen to come up for sale second hand. No reason why it wouldn't be as good as new and probably cost around £250 I guess.
Like Shiftspark said, changing the front seats seems to be a good start. If you've taken out the rears then folding Recaro's are a bit unnecessary. You could probably get a good price for them too, if you wanted to sell them.
I agree apart from the exhaust. How much extra are people really going to pay for one? Certainly not the £2K it costs as an option. I'm guessing there will be a lot of them around with roll cages but switched to normal tyres too?
Same trick as the e46 M3 CSL. I'm sure in an old Autocar They tried it with and without the cup tyres and the lap time was 3 seconds faster over roughly a minute. I'm guessing R888's are more extreme than michelin's cup tyre too (although some of the 'Ring will be flat out either way).
I...
Yeah, with car prices the way they are at the moment, there's a lot of fantastic second hand cars available for R26.R money.
I guess if I wanted an R26.R, I would not have the roll cage and track tyres so that it was more practical. I'd probably get through 10 pairs of tyres! You have to...
As much as I respect the R26.R, It's a different car to the trophy. It's much more track orientated / impractical and much pricier.
I don't see the point in replacing the trophy with another FWD car. If I wanted a 2 seater with sticky tyres for trackdays I'd buy an Exige for that money...
Rear section, rather than the whole thing I suspect. There must be plenty of people out there that always wanted one of these, but wouldn't spend a grand on a new one!
That's impressive for standard. Are you sure someone hasn't chipped it already? :D
Modified, mine made 181bhp, 156lb/ft on the DynoDynamics RR at Sanspeed.
Maxogen,
Manifold match,
Orbisoud,
Superchip.
At first I was a bit dissapointed with the max Bhp figure, but the car...
Glad your happy with it. It's worth getting better headlight bulbs for the Trophy, although changing them is a stressful job due to the lack of space.
Didn't notice who was in the car. I just saw quite a few hot hatches going the other way and thought I must be missing something. :D...
Hi,
That was me on the A36. Heading back to Shaftesbury after a heavy night in Bath. I don't often see another in the SW. Glad I cleaned it now!
Were you going to Castle Coombe or something? I'd just seen two red Astra VXR's and was thinking they must be common.
I see you had a 182...
George, I took them to the Nurburgring and they were fantastic thanks. Positive steering, loads of grip and progressive too. I was really surprised. On a hairpin close to the 'ring I turned in extra hard to see what would happen and it felt like it was going to tip over. The front just turned...
As George said, don't assume the problem is on the front suspension.
I think everyone's outside tyre edges wear out more, especially on the left (roundabouts). If it's just on the edge then I wouldn't think this is enough to cause the problem your describing, but if it's half way across then...
If your buying boots just try on as many pairs as you can. Everybody's feet are different. Also, try and make sure the boots and bindings are a good match.
I could never get on with my Burton Cartels (probably just me) so I bought some Flow bindings. They are heavy, expensive and badly built...
It might be a bit contravertial, but i'm a fan of my Whiteline rear anti-roll bar. With 2 degrees of negative camber at the front and unpinned front dampers It's a bit of a handfull on uneven roads (the camber) but it has more neutral handling. The front used to want to wash wide on long fast...
Mmm, I didn't work very hard in physics but I'm not sure that theory works so well with air as it's much more compressable. Surely like putting weight on a spacehopper or an airbed increases the pressure, so would the weight of a car on the tyre (to a lesser extent)?
