Couldn't agree more.
Sorry Ross, but I'm a big believer in things having to have a function. If you live in Dubai, or you're ultra famous, or are sitting in the back of a Bentley, Rolls, Maybach etc then tints on you windows I have no problem with.
On the rear windows of a the worlds most...
That'll be 170k miles of cans of coke dribbles and garage sarnie crumbs between the legs!
Awesome find for bargin basement price. Welcome, welcome. Add to the overall cost a damn good interior valet too, exterior detail probably wouldn't go a miss either. It'll have a laquer of motorway grime...

Check the Autostyle mats with Trophy embroidered and the car number about halfway down the thread. Too large a photo but you can see what you need to see with a bit of scrolling.

Careful leaving a nice car trailer lying around. They are highly sought after in my expereince. They seem to get pinched regularly on the Shropshire/Welsh border.
Hi Chris, having been away from the forum for a while I've just picked this thread up and read it with interest. One question, and forgive me if you have mentioned it already, I have been skim reading the text as there is now so much of it!
Now the shell is pretty much stripped and you are...
Has anyone experienced this type of issue?
Started the T this morning and rather than waiting for the electronic choke to stop I just drove off. 20 yards later it felt like the engine was a little starved of fuel. Put my foot down and not much happened. The engine wasn't so starved of fuel...
Escy, this was my response to someone asking a similar question to you. They aslo had a 106 GTi:
Hi Keo, I went from a S1 106 Rallye that I owned from new to the Trophy. I felt the Rallye was such a honed thing it would be hard to beat (I do few long journeys so comfort and motorway speed isn't...
Followed the correct proceedure and all working fine... #-o It was the bit about depressing the button before switching on the ignition I was forgetting.
Interestingly, now I've done the wiper upgrade that doesn't happen any longer. Possibly something to do with the switch. It did the pre designated sequence fine when the original switch was fitted. Everything else works fine with updraded stalk and the dash has no probs, just no funky sequence...
Graham, if they aren't screwed in, then it's likely they are on sticky pads of some sort.
My suggestion would be if you are removing the plates simply for cleaning, not to do it until summer/warm weather, so the glue is softer. Or get a just boiled kettle, one that is still boiling is better...
A lumpy idle is classic for any engine in a tuned state, usually to do with having a high lift cam. The Trophy is a classic example of this. Nothing at the bottom end and then all hell breaks loose above 5000rpm. Most front wheel drive rally cars are the same. The engine hunts and exhaust...
Woody, all that sounds like BS to me. As you are in Camberley you didn't buy the T from Mill Lane near Aldershot did you?
They replaced my ECU bracket, so if it's them that are saying they haven't done it before, it's porky pie time.
Corneyman, do a search and you'll find lots of info. I had mine break, as have loads of others, and got it fixed under warranty. If you replace it sandwich the new bracket between two large washers. I think various people have put pictures up too.
Make sure you order the correct part number...
Nick, I certainly agree about the 'added source of stress' that is your other half using the T! I'm the same. Likewise on keeping the Trophy for as long as practical. Enjoy the next choice whatever it is. A Rallye could be fun, certainly cheaper than an Evo or Elise!
PeterGinger, the two...
quik5i1ver, three words; cheap and bulletproof.
You'd want an unmolested one though, which can be tricky these days, as around 2003/4 they began to fall into the wrong hands if you know what I mean. Quite a lot got badly 'tuned' with exhausts, air filters and dodgy conversions, like changing...
Hi Reboot, always good to hear from a fellow Rallye enthusiast. I've owned my from new, it's only done 70k miles on an N plate. I simply couldn't bring myself to sell it when I got the Trophy.
When jumping from the Trophy to the Rallye I would still say that the Rallye is a more ‘real...
Series I 106 Rallye. Total hoot. I was hooning about in mine on Sunday night in the snow. Homologated Group N1 rally car. No traction control, no ABS, no driver aids. You, 100bhp, 825kgs and the seat of your pants.
The T and a neighbours V6, who having spotted the T likes parking next to me. Not going anywhere soon. Although I did break out the 106 Rallye at midnight last night and spent a few hours playing Rallye Monte Carlo for real. No problems with ABS, traction control; it doesn't have...
I think our friend meant "I'm a trader" as in "I'm a wheeler dealer, all round geezer, and can bargain anyone down in price". A very handy attribute to pocess. I don't think he was claiming to be a genuine car trader. I'm sure shopping him to HMRC would go down well with a few people if he is...
Hi Tractor, re the other form of ID, everyone's right about HPI's and fine tooth combing the receipts etc to be sure, but there should also be a white sticker on the drivers side B pillar, at the door shut, saying Renault Trophy and it has the chassis VIN number on it. It doesn't have the cars...
Hi Keo, I went from a S1 106 Rallye that I owned from new to the Trophy. I felt the Rallye was such a honed thing it would be hard to beat (I do few long journeys so comfort and motorway speed isn't too much of an issue, hence keeping the Rallye so long). Getting the T was like putting on an old...
The Speedline that arrived with me this week was 'as described' and Cit-ren were good enough to follow my request to wrap the outside in bubble wrap and tape to ensure it wasn't damaged in transit. It all looks good to me. Tyre is muddy and the rim has some of that scrappers paint on it they use...
Here's the pic from Cit-ren. Looks like it was involved in some kind of typical winter accident. Someone went into the back of it, which meant it hit someone in front. Or 223 went into back of someone and was then rear ended. Sorry state of affairs.
Although I have got a very mint looking...
Because it's 'synthesised' from mineral oil base stocks. Motul and Silkolene are made from pure synthetic materials, no relation to oil out of the ground. It's called marketing, manufacturers make you think it's synthetic. Or want you to believe that anyway.
It's all about the esters. Have a...
Correct Hoolio. The Halfords 100w bulbs are marked 'for off road use only'. Using 100w bulbs on public roads is officially illegal. Whether you would be 'busted' is an open debate. Ensuring your lights are set up properly is key for any bulb and to ensure you don't dazzle on coming traffic...
