I'm guessing the owner might have gotten ยฃ25/26k when selling it to 4 Star Classics?
Whatever it was, its a fairly big kicking to take alright Nick.
Not surprisingly after that sort of spend, it looks absolutely immaculate though.
@NickReilly063 and @marrow 100% agree.
After watching the video walk around, they say the previous owner wanted to create his own version of the Euro/French only Griffe model.
Which didn't have the red strip.
It would be a simple thing to add, and finish it off nicely I think ๐
Ah damn, sorry to hear that @SharkyUK
As you say, could be an opportunity to do things you dont usually have a chance to do and make some memorable memories.
You only live once and all that ๐
This looks like another cracking 205, in what I think is its best colour - Sorrento green.
(Amazing how dark it can come across on camera though, when its inside)
The owner clearly put a serious amount of effort into getting it to this very high standard...
Sounds like a pretty nice way to round out the year.
After the WW, do a week on some of those legendary European roads, especially those once used by Evo.
Be a nice way to conclude the year that is the Trophy's 20th birthday... maybe ๐
I think that's always going to happen Nick, unfortunately I had to sell it at that time,
I had just gotten the 205 around then in 2017.
I'm sure whoever has it now, is looking after it well anyway ;)
Thanks Ed, the fella that had it before me, put a lot of time and money in to it.
I loved the colour of it, Helios Blue, really popped in the sunlight.
Hopefully someone on your neck of the woods still has it and is enjoying it.
I actually just checked and it looks like its only been driven...
I think the Mk1 Gti will always get peoples attention.
I was lucky enough to own this Campaign (for a few years anyway).
The fella that bought it from me took it back to the UK and he sold it on CC
about two years later, easily doubling his money!!
Ah that's stunning, love the colour.
I had to Google it and this is what came back, I don't know if its Neo Oak Green though.
What a car to go around Europe in, enjoy it
Does that Targa top retract automatically or do you lift it off?
The very best of luck with your new machine Peter, its a cracking looking example
and its obviously been well minded.
Enjoy the holiday and that "something almost as fun" is going to require some sort of clue or hint at least.... ;)
I don't know if anyone else remembers this particular spectacular (to my eyes and ears at least)
car from Honda.
I believe it was destined to be the new NSX, running a 5 Litre V10, until the world economy
started imploding in 2008 and Honda decided not to go any further with the car.
But they...
Or if you really want to be a glutton for punishment Ed, a push bike ๐๐๐๐
It has to be one of the most scenic parts of Europe, without a doubt.
You did it in style, the Z4 is a very nice bit of machinery to go touring in Ed.
I'd be getting that impression too Ed.
I'm sure there's a lot of people who attend something like the Revival, and never even see a car on track.
There's so much else going on...
I just usually try and catch some of the highlights of anything from Goodwood on ITV, when it's on.
Hopefully you...
I'd imagine if you can ever get to Goodwood Revival, you might be able to both see and more importantly, hear a 250 GTO Ed.
Would be a hell of a race to experience I'd imagine ๐
Well that really brightened up my evening Ed, thanks for posting that
Its great to see the owner/driver not being afraid to use and drive one of the most valuable cars
currently around. What are they worth now $50/60 million or something crazy like that?
Also great to see (and hear I'm...
Ok so you've done pretty well in life and you have been able to own a decent amount
of McLaren F1's and you know one of the most well connected people that worked on
the race cars in period, including running that legendary and infamous Ueno Clinic car,
to win on its Le Mans debut in 1995...
I don't know if this is the correct thread or not, I have it in the back of my head
that someone (@NickReilly063 maybe) already had a thread about these auctions etc...
This original Williams recently sold at Iconic Auctions big Silverstone sale on over the weekend...
Cracking job there Ed.
Always loved Mercedes' take on coupes Nick, they seem to always have properly nice designs for their pillar less coupes, going way back.
It's a mark if how hard you were trying Ed.
Now if you had managed to get it at last half way up the side, then you were peddling along nicely ๐๐๐
Thanks for those Nick.
Bloody hell, I would have never guessed a R53 would go for that, low mileage accepted.
For that money I'd be going GP1/GP2, you have a proper special feeling car and they should hold their money as well.
Those Ferrari editions are properly cool little things, I knew they...
Definitely don't start into writing anything at this hour Ed, might hear about some
of your Peugeot adventures at some other time.
Love it @photo_ed , looks like you had a fun time exploring some of the local Boreens ;) ๐
You cant escape hitting the odd cattle crossing intersection, in these...
Your only adding to your back catalogue now Ed....
We have the Renault and Mini back catalogue, waiting to hear a bit more about
the Peugeot years now ;)
Especially when their equipped with an Ed special, bit of engine trickery
That 1.6 205 sounds like it was a little cracker.
Not a...
Great review there Mark.
Though I think there was only ever going to be one outcome between those two.
Although the Alpine is a decent first attempt at something like a hot hatch, obviously
there is still a lot of fine detailing to go into a car like that, if its to approach the driving...
I think you would find it very hard to find a better example, outside of some museum at least Ed.
Non sunroof cars seemingly are a lot harder to find as so many of the few that were actually
made without a sunroof, were very sought after for Rallying.
They wanted the solid roof as it likely...
Looking at those sort of prices, Marc will be joining the millionaire class pretty soon then ๐
Who needs stocks and shares, just buy old Renault parts and store them until they become NLA ;)
