Cheers Paul.
Bring on the rust then! Is the price on the site of £351.33 fitted or was there a fitting charge on top?
The weight saving is the icing on the cake really isn't it given what these cars are about.
I am tempted when the time comes to get the sports cat replacement pipe (not decat)...
Very useful information this as this exact system is no. 1 on my list when it comes to replacing the standard exhaust and I want it as close to standard as poss.
A question for you folks, is the standard system stainless (I'm guessing not) and if not, does it just rust away eventually as with...
Playing devil's advocate, why assume the PE3 will be the best tyre (or indeed even a good tyre for the Clio)?
I know it's French but didn't one of our friends on here mention that their new 200 Cup had Conti Sportcontact 3s (i.e. presumably Renault don't always use Michelin)? I am assuming the...
J333EVO - Thanks for this. Even though I started the thread, I acknowledge the fact that there could even be "suspicion" that two tyres from the Conti stable came first and second in that article since the test was conducted at Conti's facility.
The thrust of my post was that the article...
May be stating the obvious but what about "MyTyres" or "Blackcircles" both at around £100 per corner delivered and get them fitted elsewhere.
If there is a supply shortage, that may be different matter but both list them.
Not sure if PE2s will be replaced by PE3s (or if the PE3 will be just be an addition to the range) but if so, that doesn't do much for the OEM point(!). I know they're both Michelin but the specs are presumably different. If not, why have a new tyre?
Why not the Uniroyal Rainsport 2s which came second if you are willing to do away with the PE2s?!! They're only £70 each. I can understand if you MUST have PE2s but if you're flexible ...
Uniroyal is a subsidary of Continental by the way.
Although I don't have them on the Trophy, I do have the Conti 3s on my Audi A3 Sportback 1.9 TDi (225/45/17) and they are no different to the Pirelli P Zeros that were on the car before. Obviously both pretty handy tyres but I don't think the car is a particularly good test mule. If pushed, I...
It's cynical market positioning.
They already have the "Cup" and "Trophy" suffixes for the lightweight focused models and are using the "Gordini" sub-brand for top of the range/luxury models. They will get leather interiors, bluetooth this and ipod that, all adding weight but will do for their...
Anyone used a good detailer in the Midlands (Birmingham, Solihull, Warwickshire area)?
I've been thinking about getting a pro detail and sealant to enjoy over the next few years.
If you're not a Michelin PE2 snob, then in this month's EVO magazine, the Uniroyal Rainsport 2 came 2nd in a group test.
The PE2 came 5th (not much in it though).
Oh, and the Rainsport 2s are half the price you quote above. About £69.
Otherwise, try "My Tyres" which is just about the cheapest...
When mine goes or needs replacing on the Trophy, I will probably go for the Janspeed from K-Tec.
It is (apparently) pretty much as per the standard noisewise (but about 9 kg lighter) but is stainless steel and looks good.
It will be MUCH easier to sell your car in future with this than...
I've resisted posting on this thread so far (on the basis that I thought the original post was a wind up - no offence anyone!) but aren't we missing the point of the Trophy - a car based on the lighter pared down "Cup" version of the 182?
In other words, we bought a lighter, more focussed...
Interesting about the lack of pace. I came to the Trophy from an Evo VI Tommi and MINI Cooper S and I have to say, I don't find it that quick either. I know that is not what it is ultimately about but still, when you read the reviews (EVO in particular) on the car, you'd think it would chase...
With respect guys, my initial post wasn't about "low cost" or "cheaper" in itself. I would not bother with anything like Kumhos, Falkens etc.
My point was that this month's performance car bible (EVO) and my own subjective experience in the past of Rainsports albeit on a different car, was that...
An Alpine 610. Spiritual forerunner to the Clio V6 - manufactured at the same place in Dieppe where all our 500 babies were born.
Alpine were a Renault sub-brand back in 80s/90s and always got brilliant write ups against Porsches, Mazda RX7, Supras of the period but there always seemed to be a...
Anyone know what the tiny little bit of black plastic that sticks out at the bottom of the passenger side mirror housing is? It is not on the driver's side mirror.
At first, I thought it was just my car but I have since noticed from looking at pics of other peoples cars that they seem to have...
An interesting tyre review in this month's EVO (as well as a 20th birthday special on the Clio sports, with the Williams preferred).
The tyre review caught my eye because it featured (an evolution of) a tyre which a few years ago highlighted to me the importance of tyres and the effect they can...
I know this issue is purely personal taste/opinion and that is fair enough. So here's mine:
"Personal plates" are only any good if they are:
1. Personal (i.e. can be moved from car to car); OR
2. If car-specific, are actually any good (e.g. with the Trophy, I am thinking along the lines of...
Hi all
I have just acquired a Trophy so new to the forum. It is very low miles so hoping no damper rebuilds required yet but you guys might tell me otherwise (I hope not).
Previously owned a couple of Evo 6 Tommi Mak's so it will be interesting. First foray into French cars too!
WHAT is the...
