Could that mean you have 5 year old brake fluid, coolant, what is the condition of your brake pads/discs as with that mileage, it will likely have sat for a long time? Pollen filter?
I have just had a massive service (basically everything fluid/lube) including cambelt, brake pads, discs etc. on...
Oh, I should add, I think the reason matt finishes look "OK" on supercars and the like (e.g. Focus RS500) is that they are supposed to be nuts AND SHOUT ABOUT THEM BEING SPECIAL SO EVERYONE LOOKS!!! The M5 is rather understated which is why it works in black, blue, silver etc.
Skoda Fabia vRS, Skoda Octavia vRS (diesel) or BMW 320d.
From your comments about comfort and value, if you're looking for something a bit more long-legged then you might as well go performance diesel and save a fair bit on fuel too.
The Skoda Fabias can apparetly be tuned easily to Clio power...
I think Uniroyal is a subsidiary of Continental but the point still stands! They are very handy and Uniroyal themselves have run out with deliveries promised for the New Year.
I started a thread on the previous EVO tyre test from a few months back, extolling the virtues of the Uniroyal Rainsport 2 (which came second in that test to the PE2's fifth position). Well, I have a pair of Rainsport 2s on the rear of mine and I have to be honest, I can't tell the difference...
I think we've established that the answer to this thread is (understandably) that nobody knows because one would need to see the car and even then it would probably be difficult to pinpoint exactly what it is (if anything).
Bear in mind the car is not going to "drive like new" after a few years...
If it's a tail off in steering feel, just out of interest, which make/model of tyres at the front? If it's Michelin PE2 or PS3 and you've had the dampers and the ball joints done, then I'm stumped. Maybe worn steering rack bushes or anti-roll bar bushes that may have introduced some slop?
"The dealer in question was a Renault main dealer"
Ahh, that'll be the problem then. The trainee technician probably didn't know how to check the ball joints.:-)

The problem you're now going to have is, like me, you'll have to bagsy the best (i.e. widest) spot at work to park meaning early mornings, park in the furthest corner from the entrance at Sainsburys (and everywhere else) to make sure yummy mummy in her Q7/X5/Range Rover doesn't park next...

What's the fitment like? Does it hang any lower than the standard one? I used to have a Scorpion on my Charade GTti back in the day and its centre box was much lower although that was probably a quirk of that system.
Also, is it noisy? I don't like noisy exhausts on road cars. I have...
Wave? No, I doff my cap to them for making such a good choice.
Seriously though, I tend to wait for the other person to acknowledge. Bear in mind that many of these cars are used daily, commuters etc. and often people will have other things on their mind such as getting home, picking up the...
Call me pedantic but if you lost the key somewhere near home (or anywhere near the car), would it not be obvious that this (normally) random Renault key belongs to a Trophy, say the one down the road from where the keys are lost?
What do we mean by "the corkscrewing action through the steering"?
Mine seems to handle perfectly well at 16,000 miles but I've not had the car since new to compare againt "as new" handling.
Would this "corkscrewing" effect be quite obvious?
I think they'll be looking for £5K. I agree if it requires very little, then it's easy money but that's the business they're in.
I suppose it depends how well they inspect and present the cars. I can't think of many cars that are more than a couple of years old that need absolutely NOTHING...
So you took my advice then(?)!
As for their markup, I suppose they would say they had to prep it etc. It is odd though isn't it, the very same car could have been had for £4K, maybe even less :-). Bizarre.
Just joking. It should be very straightforward to get a replacement headlight for a 182. Have you tried eBay for people breaking 182s? There are a number of specialist Renault breakers who should have these on the shelf - just enter "Renault breakers [location]" into Google.
You could always ring another dealer and see whether they make reference to an "Extreme Pack".
Were they possibly just using the word "extreme" to refer to the fact that the Trophy has a unique suspension setup to try and justify the price?
Have you offered it to DS Cars in Staffs? They're Renaultsport specialists and would surely give you what you're after for it. http://www.dscars.co.uk/60940/index.htm
At £4K with belts done, it's a bargain, history or no history. If the number plate has the supplying dealer's name on it, you may be able to get some of the receipts from them (or even previous owner(s) may be able to help).
I believe engines are pretty strong on 182s and if it drives well, go...
So allsmiles, is your dream car a diesel then (see original post)? :-(
Whatever it is, it must be a hell of a car to usurp the Trophy!
Keep going any lower and the breakers will be after it. Just lowering the price isn't necessarily going to shift it. You'll just look like a tart - the car...
So what was the asking price? I reckon it needed a couple of thousand pounds worth of work on it, and that was just the obvious stuff. Who knows what else if, as it seems, it may have had a hard life.
