I doubt its maped for 98 cos 98 was not even available in this country when the 172 came.
At least I think thats the case as most supers are 97 and optimax/vpower wasn't out 10 years ago.
Also it wont be maped for 98 cos just because it says 98 on the pump(or whatever) doesn't mean its...
Avoid ebc like the plague! The discs are expensive and the setup will be worse than standard!
Depending on whether you want a good looking disc or not you could go for brembo max over hc! I don't think there is much performance difference but they look nice! IMO braided line don't do much! Most...
Had it a bit on my 172 cup it eventually settled down!
I think redstuff are ok at best and it's just the fact they are new that makes them feel ok!
I have never used redstuff myself but greenstuff are considerably worse than standard!
197s run where you'd expect them to run in relation to a 182. I.e on rollers that would show a 182 at 182 197s run about 197. On rollers that show 182s at 160 197s run about 175-180!
You really need to dyno the engines to get a true figure though!
Broad as long really if you always buy 2nd hand cars.
I paid £9k for my mint 225 F1 but 6 months later they were going for £10-£11k and I got paid out £10650 but it cost me a grand more for my trophy than it would have at the same time as when I bought the F1,
When I had the cams done on my 172 as a quick check it had a generic map on it. It was then put back to standard maping and it made more power then it was maped properly and it made another 15bhp.
So for £1500 I got about 15bhp.....WOW!!!
That's best part of £600!! you'll end up with about 5bhp increase which is about the equivalent of the difference between a full tank of fuel and an empty one!
It's a complete waste of money!
For 600 quid (with a px) you could be running lighter wheels with R888s now that you would notice!
Remaps are a waste of money.
I'm yet to see good proof that they give any worthwhile gain whatsoever on clios. Infact the least powerful 197 I have seen has had a remap at RS Tuning.
Cams are v expensive after fitting and maping and make little difference on the road believe me I wasted tons...
Just want to point out I'm nit claiming to have a more powerful trophy than anyone else, nor am I claiming a a green cotton ik gives power. Just the reading on these rollers!
Why do people say it's only 160?? No-one has dynod their engine so no-one knows which rr is the most acurate. On this...
He didnt slag off another RR he just said it was cheaper than his.
I was pretty impressed by the guy to be honest.
He showed us round he work shop and it was like a Mclarens head office only dirty. He was a specialist in head reworking and design and had some serious kit and heads from tons of...
Aye just a guide.
Best thing an RR does is check everything is healthy. Best for tuned cars really.
Also you can check like for like cars for most power!!!
One thing I want to check is a comparison between the standard 182 and mine cos in theory I should have a slightly higher wheel figure...
164.2(lbft) at 5438rpm(bonnet up) and 158.4lbft (bonnet down) which does seem high but that was a big spike, it did not hold it for long at all.
I agree 192 seems high but a maped 225 made only 242 and that ran 248 at RS Tuning.
Bit odd me thinks.
However the thinking that the produce 160bhp...
Well where we went had an engine dyno.
Would be great to bench my engine but I'm not pay £1000s to do it.
In theory at least the dastek should be more acurate as it has a run down and not just a % added to the wheels.
Dunt mean 192 is right though. But one saving grace I ran higher than the...
Had a run on some Dastek rollers.
Best run was 156.8bhp at the wheels and 192.6bhp at the fly.
Interestingly I had just fitted a green cotton IK and have yet to fit the CAFs. The difference between bonnet up and bonnet down was 4bhp. Not an exact test but give and indication to how much CAFs...
I got a quote from someone on renaultsport for a full service Inc belts plugs and brake fluid change for 500 quid. The fella is in the midlands. I'm in Leeds but I'm gonna take it there if the local place want 250 more. Plus I said I'd do the plugs myself so it will be even cheaper.
Also I know...
I have heard mixed reports on LSDs
Its big bucks for not much gain to start with but
I think an R26 is only about 2 secs quicker on an average track than a 225 F1
A mate who went from a 225 Cup to an R26 complained that sometimes the diff made the car pull to one side on dodgy camber and...
Never felt the need for an LSD on a 172/182 and especially not on a Trophy with the front end grip it has.
For reference my 172 cup had a good IK, cams, sports cat and s/s exhaust and made 189bhp
