I took some pictures of my A-pillars which are flocked, I also did the plastic section on the door behind the mirror as it's in same area and looks more complete. I also did a few other itmes which I've also taken pictures of.
You may notice a few other changes since last pictures, the carbon...
I flocked my A pillar covers a few weeks back. I use Donjer flock from the USA, it's the best flock i have used http://www.donjer.com/cars.htm though you can't buy adhesives as not allowed to ship them over here.
I've also used the flock from Frost and it's a bit coarser, nowhere near as fine...
I've never seen any results for Civics, but as they are a mass produced car with mass produced tolerances then I would fully expect them to have similar results to any other mass produced n/a car.
The only n/a cars you can expect to be pretty much on the money in terms of meeting there...
I think you could have saved yourself some money if you had removed the springs before sending them off, one in weight of postage and two in Ben labour costs.
I know I only live round the corner from Silverstone, but Ben asked if I could take the springs off as it saves him time and me money.
I changed a friends gearbox oil about two weeks ago on his Phase 2 172. 70ish-k covered and a few track days thrown in and his oil when drained looked terrible, way past its best.
Put in some Castrol Syntrax semi-synth 70-90iirc though Renault quote 70-80, I had in the garage and thought may as...
A friend of mine put his phase 2 Clio 172 on Circuit Motors r/r at Castle Combe at the weekend as part of a r/r day, he got two runs which were consistent.
All the car has is matched inlets, drop in ITG filter, decat and s/s exhaust system made 156bhp ATW which is 184bhp flywheel. His car also...
Welcome.
i thought I would shed some light on this.
My father in law has over many years worked on engine development and design, having worked on things like the Nissan GTR engine, Audi 4.2 V8 5.2 V10 from the modern era and going back as far as the Maestro Turbo from his time at Tickford...
I used to have a Series 1 106 Rallye in red, the reg ended in PUD so that's what the car was called rather than Pug. It was an excellent car, wish I still had it, just don't have room to keep any more cars. I fitted a beautiful MOMO Corse steering wheel, same as is fitted to integrale EVO2's as...
It's very interesting you mention the 306. I recently read an article on Peugeot, and there was a very interesting insight from the now head of Ford chassis development who stated that back when the 306 and 406 were introduced they were considered the state of the art in terms of chassis...
When I sold my JDM facelift Toyota Celica GT4 ST205 I shortlisted two cars as my everyday runner, a Honda integra Type R DC2 UK, not JDM don't like how they look, and the Trophy. I test drove a few DC2's and one was lovely and unmolested, but felt very cheap and slow and hard work compared to...
150K seems excessive, I change mine every 24k or 2 years they are so cheap and easy to do I don't know why anyone wouldn't. It's on service interval as 36K on both celica GT4 and integrale, can't remember the Ignis but again sure it was 36-48K there or there abouts.
Normally they are in the...
I always use the formula for FWD cars of take wheel power add 10 and then divide by 0.9.
Therefore for the car above its 143.3+10/0.9=170.3bhp. the 183bhp published seems a tad high for the wheels power, a 40bhp lose is inconceivable on a modern FWD car.
So to get 182bhp at the wheels you...
I thought I would add some information that some may know, but not all.
When an engine is homologated by a car manufacturer it is done in a test cell or some know it as a dyno cell, a fully environmentally controlled unit. Everything is controlled to ambient temperature to intake temperatures...
I fitted K-tec top mounts to my car while I was re-fitting my rebuilt dampers.
After drilling and before fitting top mounts, I cleaned the area out with brake cleaner and rag, then once dry I sprayed the whole inside turret area with black anti-rust stone ship paint. I masked off the top of...
I got mine done by Gibson Trimming, look in the media/photo section to see what it was like just after I got it done. i have since replaced the steering wheel badge with a real carbon fibre one and the dash strips to match whole interior now looks much higher quality.
Steering wheel has been on...
A common trick to beef up existing engine/gearbox/exhausts mounts where there is maybe no off the shelf product to replace the OEM items, is to fill in the gaps with Tigerseal black. It's a polyurethane sealant/adhesive that when set is firmer than rubber and not as firm as polyurethane bushes...
Call me cynical, but as of this month, January 2010 all cars are now classified in 50 insurance groups from the old 20. This has not been widely publicised and some cars seems to have gone up more groups than others. I'm sure that some insurance less scrupulous companies will be able to ask...
As pointed out Recaro Trendline this company are very good for seating http://www.capitalseating.co.uk/product ... id=59&rid=
To get a set like a Trophy then you need to use these part numbers, though I can't confirm accurate as I got them from ClioSport.
2 x 265000575 - Sport Trendline with...
I take your point onboard, but not totally true, BMW pride themselves on a 50/50 weight distribution, therefore a 1500kg 330 say has 750kgs over the driven rear wheel. A 1100kgs Clio with a 65/35weight distribution only has 715kgs over driven wheels.
But in general a RWD BMW or Mercedes will...
The Clio like many cars has an open diff which when one wheel spins the other stops moving, not good.
Plus you then have fly-by-wire throttle which is tied into traction control which limits throttle input killing the power which is often the wrong thing to happen on snow/ice. The reason why...
A very rare car now the ST165, and highly sought after, though most have rusted away.
Though yes Toyota can be very expensive for parts, and they did decide to make pretty much everything on the car, like the turbo charger 1st twin scroll with ceramic blades (steel in Europe due to lower octane...
What it has to do with it is this.
Many folk, especially those who like/drive Japanese cars and only drive Jap cars believe it's because they are the best, they are engineered better than anything else and only the Japs could have come up with the GTR.
For me, well I know one of the main...
These polls always amaze me as the people who vote have never driven all the cars available and go on what the mags say.
The Nissan is good, but let's face it without Europe and most prominently the UK it would have never happened, and if you don't already know, here's why;
Renault own Nissan...
Yes I do love my old rally cars having a 1992 Lancia integrale EVO1 and having sold my Celica GT4 ST205 to buy the Clio.
It just bemused me lots with all the press going on and on about fecking "revo knuckle" when Toyota did it 16years ago, it's nothing new and the Ford system looking at the...
This "revoknuckle" thing is not a new thing, it's a very similar, though not as complex a set up that the Celica GT4 ST205 used back in 1994 when it came out, it was called "super-strut" and was homologated for the WRC ST205, though it was never used on Safari events, not strong enough, only...
Never done it on the Clio, but in the past when I've changed gearbox oil I have found using a gearbox oil syringe helps a lot as you can then push the oil in instead of using gravity to feed it from the bottle's.
Draper do one at about £10 IIRC, it's well up to the job, excellent for doing rear...
The cost was just over £400 including VAT, just under excluding VAT at its present 15% to change in New Year back to 17.5% I believe.
This included:
External reservoir assembly
Piston rod guide assembly
floating piston (D45mm)
O-ring for floating piston
piston seal strip
Sachs damper oil
4hours...
I just got my dampers rebuilt by Ben at BG Motorsport.
Few reasons why I got it done there over and above fact I live in Towcester not a 5min drive from Silverstone.
Ben was very approachable and willing to answer any questions I had regarding his service. Was happy to show me a damaged shaft...
I'm not expecting everyone to like it, but it feels so much better than original which it has to be said it one of the poorest quality wheels I have ever used. My old Renault 5GTT had a much higher quality steering wheel in it, excellent quality leather and lasted really well, I only sold one of...
