What Can You See Yourself Replacing Your Trophy With?

200bhp and 980kg? Might as well get a VX220 Turbo.

What Can You See Yourself Replacing Your Trophy With?

P.S. I don't think Colin Chapman would turn in his grave, he designed the original Seven 50 years ago to be a very cheap sports car, to make some money before the next proper sports car was launched, he sold the rights to one of the dealerships - Caterham Cars because he didn't want Lotus to...

What Can You See Yourself Replacing Your Trophy With?

I wasn't really asking this, I think everyone who knows anything about cars knows an Exige can't compete with a proper Seven on track, the fact that they weigh 300kgs less aside, the engines are more powerful! There's not much that can touch an R500 for lap time, except maybe Donkey's S2000...

What Can You See Yourself Replacing Your Trophy With?

I'm confused MrD06, I can't work out if that whole post was being sarcastic, just some of it or none of it. That's the trouble with these forum thingies, you can't hear the intonation in someone's voice. You think a Caterham Seven is a better or worse track car than an Exige?

    Car Mats.

Not contentious. Unless they build a MK III 380 V6, with the Supercharged 3.5 V6 from the 350Z - S. It'll need near 400bhp to shift it's great, fat arse along the road at a decent lick.

    Car Mats.

I'll take some pictures of them later, they're holding up OK, a bit of wear on the drivers one, I would definitely recommend the heel plate or at least a carpet heel pad, otherwise the drivers mat will wear out in one spot way before the rest are even looking less than brand new. The silver...

    Fitting DS2500s on the rear...

Let us know how the car feels with the Ferodo's on the rear, I'm absolutely loving my brakes now, Their performance far exceeds the grip of the tyres and you really have to modulate them to stop the ABS taking over. Incidentally the front DS's wouldn't fit in the calipers when I had mine...

    Have Trophys lost their appeal?

Just thought I'd reiterate this. Niche car it may be, but it's still a damn site more desirable than a 197 to the average driving enthusiast. I'm so used to the speed of the Trophy now, a 197 must feel really slow after a while.

just a pic today of a clean car :-)

I've just done mine too, on top of stripping the seats out, it made it much faster. Well done for doing the inside of the tailpipes too, often neglected! Do you have any more pictures of your gorgeous black Exige? Maybe some with the Trophy? Actually, not ones with the Trophy...

What Can You See Yourself Replacing Your Trophy With?

Seats out! They look cheap (and they are) but not particularly light, along with skipping breakfast this morning I reckon I've saved 15 kgs at least! I wanted to know how easy it would be to do this the morning of a trackday, the answer is very. Took about three minutes to undo the three bolts...

    Have Trophys lost their appeal?

I didn't get a Trophy because of it's residuals though. It's nice that they're holding up OK but TBH if it was suddenly worth nothing, it's only £13K depreciation which is less than a lot of performance cars in 13 months! It would just mean I was forced to keep it, oh no, wouldn't that be...

    Car Mats.

I too considered the Dark Grey, but decided to go with Balck because the carpets were black. They will stand out more in Anthracite. I'd say go for it, it's not like you're going for Capsicum Red ones and it could look bloody awful!

What Can You See Yourself Replacing Your Trophy With?

Very interesting thread this, It's amazing how similar people's ideas are, I guess it's that most Trophy owners know a fair amount about cars which is why we own one. I too am thinking along the lines of E46, 350Z or a Caterham/Westfield. The Seven would be a project though, I'd actually go...

What Can You See Yourself Replacing Your Trophy With?

I agree, it's a lovely car and I would happily own it but it's the fucking Lexus tail lights that put it firmly in the Chav camp for me. There are many that would put the Trophy there too though, and I'd have to kill them with a bread knife so feel free to defend the Scoob...

    V6 255 Seats

I remember someone saying they were only the bottom of the range crappy Trendlines and nowhere near as nice as proper Recaro ones. I said what does that make the Swiss ones then?! You get the exact same seats in lots of performance cars, they're a real favourite, I've never known better seats...

    TIG air filter

Never need cleaning - maybe, but I think it would benefit from a re-oil every year, I'll be doing mine for no other reason than I enjoy getting under the bonnet occasionally even it it's completely pointless. You definitely need to get the airbox open and vac it out though, when I fitted my ITG...

    TIG air filter

I think you mean ITG. Not sure how well a Tungsten Inert Gas welded filter would perform!

    Immaculate VW Golf Rallye

I had never heard of a Golf Rallye. Cool. I love Superchargers, I spoke to a VW nut once who fitted a G60 charger to his Corrado VR6, it was all done properly and was dyno'd at 250bhp. Not bad in a car weighing 1200kg!
