As I'm sure Marrow will acknowledge, I use Red Mist and really like it. Personally I don't think it will give you a wet look - more of a clinical clean look...
Right, I called the dealership and their service manager put it down to tester's opinion. He said the ball joints are generally a steady wearing item - they should not go from acceptable to failure so quickly. He also assured me that the guy they had servicing my car was their best and to quote...
Believe me chaps, I had deliberated over my choice of service location for a considerable time. The dealer in question came well recommended and they did a pretty good deal price wise; their service manager was very helpful, certainly not pushy when it came to advising on any items that may...
Thanks for comments so far.
The service in question was the 72k/5yr major cambelt service and so I would assume that pretty much everything on the car should have been checked?! The dealer in question was a Renault main dealer, who I shall not name as I am yet to call them and chat this...
I have had an odd sound coming from that side of the car for a while and specifically requested that it was looked at during the service; I was told that they found nothing untoward. The sound was rather like a light, slightly spring-like metallic clicking when manoeuvring (not the top mount...
Guys, your thoughts on the below please..
My T was serviced a number of months ago and has since covered approximately 1100 miles. Today it went for its MOT and failed on a ball joint. So my questions are...
- Would you have expected a significant failure to occur within the space of a number...
The same type of person that has slowly stolen parts from my friend's fiesta ST - they lost the side skirts, then 6 months later the spoiler, then within weeks someone tried to rip off the front bumper. It's shocking what people will do.
Rofl! Coming from the man whose T spends most of it's time in cotton wool (I.e not getting ear ache from his Orb!).
I agree that the Orb is a seriously delicious exhaust- just wouldn't wish to have a daily 1 hr commute with it.. ;) the quiet version though- that would be fine and still a superb...
Another Orb (loud version) owner here. I have never had the pleasure(?!) of experiencing a Yozza, but if it's any louder than the Orb then it certainly wouldn't be for me..!
The Orb is great when you get into the higher end of the rev range - really screams nicely and at idle it has a nice deep...
Yup- dug it out again for good measure. I like the juxtaposition of two similar coloured beasts, both perfectly adapted for their individual specialism, as it were..
It's amazing what a difference 'real' off-roading I.e. Dune driving and so on, made to my mate's driving; we used to amble...
Mate of mine has a defender and has fully rebuilt it and taken it on expeditions across the Sahara, into the alps etc. He loves it, I don't mind driving it, but unless you're actually off road, it can become tiresome. The sheer presence of them is certainly very cool, but they really don't...
Welcome back to the fold, still quite a few of us early/ish owners around, sometimes hiding in the woodwork!
Hope that your new T rejuvenates all of the old memories, as you hope.
George - appreciate your comments, thanks. From my point of view, I'm just keen to seek as much information as I can, before making a decision.
On the back of George's comment regarding works above and beyond seals and repressurising, are you able to say what the procedure would be in this...
Anyone sorted their steerig creaking noises? Mine became significantly worse today - I get a sort of creaking when turning the wheel at low to moderate speeds- pretty concerned.. Quite confused too, on the grounds that nothing was picked up at the service last month..
This sounds great Matt- perhaps you could Pm me a price please?
Other than your word, can you provide any further evidence, written or stamped perhaps, of Sachs' authorisation?
Thanks
I've never been down the sound deadening route, but in my 'youf' my best mate fitted a sub into his saxo and thus inestigated sound deadening. You could fit dynamat or 'brown bread'(?) (cheaper version I think), but they're both quite heavy from memory and will probably set you back quite a fair...
^^ good advice.
From my point of view, if I was looking to buy one, it would need to be 'enthusiast owned' therefore, I would look for meticulous service History etc. Because of the nature if the car's limited edition status, the better the history, the higher the resale value and the more...
