How are your tyres wearing? I did have a strange feeling like this after running too much pressure. They wore more in the centre and then it felt unstable.
I don't think the dampers being stiff will make it unstable at speed on the motorway. A bumpy B road maybe. The slow lane is often rutted but this isn't really a damper thing in my opinion. Check damper settings as Hoolio said though. Wheel alignment would be my first guess. Do you trust the...
Sounds good. The Sachs can be softened off a bit I suppose but it's generally quite a hard ride at low speeds. Will be interesting to hear what you think when it's changed back.
Seems like a reasonable price from Monster Sport. I'm a bit dissapointed that the R1 dampers are not a bit stiffer and they are pinned. I was running the original Sachs a few clicks stiffer than standard with my Mark Fish springs. A shame but still ideal really.
Do we know if the BG rebuilds...
The bolt spacing is frustrating. I'm happy with my revalved rear Koni's and Mark Fish springs. I only want some decent new front dampers with a bit of adjustment. I'm currently running cup dampers but they don't really match the stiffer springs very well. I thought the Spax sounded like a good...
I think they are all noticeably louder than standard but the rs192 is relatively subtle with the Cat still in place. It's difficult for me to remember as I previously had an Orbisoud exhaust for about 4 years which is much louder than both standard or 192. The scorpian sounds much more...
I can recommend Mark Fish for any suspension or tracking work. He also did a good job on my cam belt. Maybe he's not the cheapest but I don't think he's that pricey. I fitted my own 192. Not too bad to do.
I was hoping to get AD08's to replace the RS2's but when I needed them they were out of stock everywhere. I'm giving the Federal 595rs-r a go instead. Initial thoughts are they have good dry grip and a decent sidewall. They are good in standing water and reasonable in the wet so far. Better than...
My soft Orb was still really boomy once the car was hot. Not so bad for short distances or if you just take it easy. I found I just used to drive everywhere in a higher rev range! if I had to drive slow then I found my cheap motorbike in ear defenders from Halfords did a good job if I had a...
Hi Rich,
As a previous owner of a soft Orb I'd say it won't make all that much difference. I never thought mine was much more quiet than Jules'. I would also be tempted to look at the fit of it. I'm sure mine sounded louder inside than out because it was pulling tight on the boot floor like a...
Local dealer replaced mine under warranty when it wasn't running right. I finally found the problem was a damaged air intake pipe! bit of a waste but I'm not complaining.
I've had an Orbisoud and now a Scorpian. The orb was great but mine always sounded too loud inside the car. I'm convinced it was the way it was mounted to the boot floor acting like a drum. It was never the best fit. When i dropped the rear silencer onto a wooden block it went quiet. I miss the...
I think the main benefit with the koni's is that you can adjust them so you can better match the fronts. If you're not going to unpin the front then they are less necessary. As Dave said they should stiffen the rear which should help reduce understeer but I would choose the Whiteline ARB for...
Your suspension will be great at the ring. I've been a couple of times with my Trophy before I had the full Mark Fish setup. Unfortunately I haven't been back with the current setup but its the reason I got the suspension done. If you are looking to try anything else I would recommend trying the...
I guess I'll just have to rebuild them really but it would have been good to have some other options. To be fair if they lasted anywhere near another 90k I'd be very happy. No point me doing it just for resale value though.
I need to source some new clamps for my Whiteline as one of them was...
On the subject of front refurbs I feel the same as Will#I#Ams. Too many people have been back to BG for me to be confident of a good outcome. I'm sure they will sort out any problems but that involves taking the dampers off again, re-delivery, re-fitting and wheel alignment. At the moment I'm...
I really like it. I've been toying with the idea of perforated leather or alcantara myself. It does look like a decent OEM wheel which is perfect in my opinion. Getting rid of the thumbgrips was the right choice too.
It's definitely worth considering if they are in bad shape. I'm wondering what else would be worth trying at the moment. My car is high
mileage and modified so I don't really care about resale value. If there was a decent (front only) stiff damper option for a few hundred I would be tempted...
As standard they usually have a kick at 5200rpm. Sounds like it has been modified but it still sounds like a lot for a 182. I have seen some talk of cams making good power on cliosport but people on here have not had those kind of results.
Haha, love it Mark. No need to speak to Speedline as lots of us picked ours up new. Hoolio is correct. My wheels lost their logo's in one wash at a trader friend of mine's as the wheel cleaner was too harsh. My spare set still have them as will all Trophy speedlines bought from Renault. Others...
