I'm not suggesting that the Lotus isn't a head turner but the Chinese tourists around the lakes (particularly the Bowness area) are well known for taking pictures of absolutely everything and anything. It's as if they've come from another planet and they're seeing Earth for the first time. It's...
Yes I bought all the genuine Renault tools required to change the timing belt. I've still got them. To check the timing you just need the 'horse shoe' type tool that slots between the grooves in the ends of the camshaft and the crankshaft locking pin. Some people just use a drill bit or similar...
I should add that i've reset the timing since then and it has made a noticible difference to the top end, It seems to keep on pulling now where as before it felt like it was dropping off slightly, there's been little to no difference in the low/mid range but that's always felt strong with the...
Mine's still going strong Tim.
Mine didn't make anywhere near 190bhp, more like 177bhp and 150lb/ft at 2600rpm.
Here are some graphs for comparison...

Spot on! Please do. I'll be looking to send them your way towards the end of March if your time allows for it. Don't worry about your other marriage, your marriage to the Trophy commmunity is far more rewarding, surely.
Cheers Rik, I'm only messing mate, that's fair enough.
If you would be kind enough to service mine in the spring and stick some on then that would be ok I guess.
Mine were last done by BG in January 2009 and they're still performing well, however, they are crying out for the full RP...
I don't want one anyways
I take it the water is getting in through the bit in the middle of the dial where it slides over the adjuster?
There's a rubber seal under mine which the dial rotates on, I would have thought it would be ample enough to keep water out, also, the grub screw...
Maybe it's the same guy.
I'm finding that as it gets older it stands out a lot more, I don't see many 182's around these parts. I once saw a Trophy driving in the area and thought it looked awesome. It occurred to me that I must look just as awesome. Nobody has ever stopped me at the lights and...
I've not long been back from my nieces 3rd birthday and my girlfriend is talking about having babies. I've mentioned the cat thing, just got that 'you better be joking' look.
Personally it would depend on what I thought about the person I was dealing with.
My Trophy hasn't had a stamp since 2010 when I had the belts done, after that I did everything myself. I know everything has been done to a high standard but anyone looking to buy it would have to make their own...
Cheers Ben, the garage was a labour of love.
I always wanted a Defender, the price was ridiculous but it may prove to be a good investment.
I wouldn't like to use it as a daily. The Trophy, on the other hand, I could drive every day. Great little car.
Bearne1, Thanks, you understand that some...
I would say mine is a daily, however, I don't drive it that much. I live close to where I work and spend most of my free time at my workshop and field. I'm only doing around 2k miles a year in it and it's currently on 72k. I'm not interested in keeping the miles down and I couldn't care less...
I'm the only one at work who's had the same car for the duration of being there, I've been there over 6 years. People are always changing their cars. I bought a brand new Defender last year with the intention of selling the Trophy but I've owned it for so long I've become emotionally attached to...
If your alarm beeps when you lock the car it means you have disabled the part of the alarm which monitors sound from inside the vehicle. If you're in a noisy environment for example you may wish to disarm it so that the alarm doesn't keep going off. You can deactivate it by turning the ignition...
I didn't replace the tensioner, just re-adjusted it, the car didn't leave the ramp. I honestly had no idea where it was coming from and it sounded like it was coming from the crank area also. I researched into it and came across the tensioner issue so I set about stripping everything down and...
Do you have a picture of the tensioner? I suspect this is the issue. The same thing happened to me when I changed mine, the tensioner was the issue, even though the marks were lined up the belt was too tight, I believe the sound is from the tensioner hitting it's stops, I'm guessing it only does...
The first thing I would do is remove all the cam belt covers and see if you can locate where it's rubbing. It could just be one of the cover not quite fitted correctly, You should also be able to check the marks on the tensioner are still lined up correctly while you're at it. I'm not sure that...
The idea of having location threads and area reps was considered a while back but due to the lack of members/owners it was dismissed. In the past it has been pretty difficult to organise a meet and the numbers are generally quite small, unfortunately.
I bought mine from Renault Parts Direct.
The problem is the set they sell doesn't include the additional cam locking tool that you need for locking the dephaser pulley. Is every tool on back order?
It's best to talk to the guys who fitted it. If the dephaser has failed already then it has most likely been a faulty part or inadequately installed. I would be arguing that the garage fit a new kit if that's the case as it has done very few miles since being fitted.
