All fair points Ashtons99. It's a little similar to what I've seen happen with watches. Unworn, with stickers and tags still attached are a huge premium to the same watch with all the same history (receipt, box, papers, tags and any service history) that's been enjoyed, looked after and in near...
Difficult to comment on value as without Sachs it's a red 182 with Recaro's, a V6 spoiler and anthracite Turini's. How much is a 2005 182 with 90k miles, nice seats and wheels worth? I've seen it around the Wandsworth Bridge Road area and always wondered if the owner frequented here.
Are you...
Nice. Thanks for that. I thought it might be. It would be interesting to compare two sets on cars back-to-back, original vs. a rebound of your choice that you think more optimal.
Rik, perhaps a stupid question, but what's the reason for the difference in the negative force (N) trace vs. the positive force (N) trace between 0-50 on the velocity (mm/sec) scale?
Clearly the FL and FR are wonderfully matched across both scales as the green and red lines overlap.
Is it...
Interesting. I didn't know this.
Got any proof? Not challenging it was done, would simply like to see what the schedules changed to and that documented by Renault. The change may throw out various peoples service schedules.
So it used to be 72,000 miles and five years for both timing and...
You may well be right Claude, as I think that's what RenTech Portsmouth said to me in 2008. Although the Renault Service Schedule booklet that came with the car states five years or 36,000 for the accessory belt.
Based on mileage alone, cars hitting 36,000 would have the accessory belt changed...
If the last time the belts (I presume by belts you meant timing and accessory belts) were changed was 2010 then they were due again in 2015.
The timing belt, tensioner and two idler pulleys (and dephaser pulley) should be changed every five years or 72,000 miles. The accessory belt, idler and...
As we all have a soft spot for a red car, this restoration of another red one might be of interest to some of you.
Be warned, it's exceedingly long and detailed. 1107 images long. Get yourself a good cup of coffee/tea, or even a glass of beer/wine and enjoy whiling away a few hours.
I have to...
I think that was the case. My document pack has a leaflet in it which has alarm fitting instructions. Also a certificate/invoice stating the alarm was fitted and signed by the installer.
Yea, I'd be cautious with part ordering if you don't have the part number in front of you. Can't complain about how they resolved the situation though.
Well that was remarkably easy. Yet they still got it wrong.
"You've sent me the wrong dampers, part number on invoice ends 128". "What's the reg number? Oh, you need part number ending 125". "No I need part number ending 954". "But them's for the Trophy and are £180." "That would make sense...
I like the bit from George (miss him on this forum) relating to the better the damper the softer the spring rate that can be deployed. Which (in my tiny mind) would make sense regarding the high speed compliance of the Trophy. It can soak up rough tarmac with soft spring rates and all is kept...
Yea, at manoeuvring speed it's like the Princess and the Pea, you can feel the slightest surface imperfection. At speed it's simply mighty and glides over the worst road surfaces.
All phone. All I have is the invoice. The only thing I have to lean on is that why would a Trophy owner of eight years ask for the wrong part? Also that I was clear in stating both the part number and that it was a Trophy, so why would I want 182 dampers?
All the other items I quoted the part...
Having spent an evening using this version it's clear that What's New is only completely new threads.
New posts on the home page is the modern equal to what was the 'overview' page on the last version. That had the most recent responses to things in a single location and there were eight to...
Hmm, food for thought. I'll see how I get on. Given the date of the invoice is 4th December 2015 I expect they'll get hissy about taking the part back. Queue a massive PITA slanging match. We'll see.
Thanks Mikey, I'm travelling to where the cars and parts are stored in a couple of weeks so will have a thorough look myself.
Name and shame time ; ) the invoice says it was created by Chris Langford and the invoice was picked and printed by Mark Williamson at Wolverhampton Renault. Shame on...
That's very interesting. I've found them outstanding on really awful road surfaces, country B roads Gloucestershire, Shropshire, Worcestershire area where it's far from marble smooth track like surfaces. Conversely I also run a Clio 200 with the cup chassis and I even started a tread on...
Hmm, just rechecked the invoice. The part number doesn't match the correct part numbers we've all been quoting, either 8200 519 954 or 77 11 433 946.
Clearly the muppets got brain fade between me clearly quoting the part number and them picking and packing the item. Quite how I don't know...
Yep, they're fully original Sachs. Not the original grey, but black with the new Sachs ZF sticker. The eBay ad is for Wolverhampton Renault. They've just whacked the prices up over time. Trophy tax as per usual.
Note they're now asking £200 a pair. Only going to go higher. I was just lucky...
Super slick work Rik. Impressive. Re the dirt scraper, I think BG sourced something to add, at a price of course. Additionally, when the original dampers were no longer available new, Renault switched us to the R1 Rally Twingo ones, should you wish to buy new. Same damper, possibly set to a...
Yea, it is kind of, also the recent posts on the home page, but there are only four to six things included. I agree that the what's new section is more comprehensive than recent posts, I simply liked the fact there were more listed on the old platform, the simplicity allowed the reader to digest...
Wow. Away for two weeks and all change. Guess it was necessary due to underlying platform problems? Nice one for keeping the place alive.
Not a massive fan of the UI and UX though. Colour, rendering, font and basic architecture fine, but I really liked being able to drop into the home...
This Trophy was moved today to our mystery owners home. Reg on display on Twitter and Instagram. Whichever Trophy number has the reg LV55LHD is his.
It shares a home with some excellent choices of cars for a mini collection. Certainly a few that would make my fantasy garage.
