But bear in mind that you just posted about an accident that you probably dont want to declare on a public forum for a specialised numbered vehicle ...
Recently purchased from Feirny for both the Bedford trackday on Saturday 16th (where it performed absolutely faultlessly, & allowed me to have a flipping awesome day!!) and to replace the R32, I’ve now been informed that a Clio is not really suitable for work/car allowance purposes anymore. As...
Personally, i found the MF Springs & rear dampers too hard for road use, yes they may be optimised for track work, but the Trophy was designed to exel at B road hooming imho. My setup was as follows:
Eibach Sportlines
Standard Sachs front/rear, standard settings
Whiteline ARB set to 'hard'...
Im sorry, but what
A cambelt is done using locking tools like this:
Not like this:
If i were you, id check exactly what your 'mate' did, because the 'probes' along with the fuel filter suggest that they either have no idea wtf they are doing, or they are just being typical stealers...
So were the belts done as a 'homer' by the Renault chap, or do you have company invoices/stamps for the work done? Why was it re-timed, that would suggest that the cam-timing was incorrect to begin with?
Fuel filter? You sure lol. As far as i was aware, on the 182 its on the intank fuel pump, so...
For that money id be looking at add a little more info tbh.
FSH should include 5-7 stamps (every 12k miles or 12 months remember)
Have the belts been done, & by whom?
Condition of the dampers, 7 years old & no refurb?
Pictures of the damage, and of the car in general?
Havent tried the BC Racings, but a friend has Meister R's which are reputedly very similar which he's pretty impressed with, pillowball top mounts, fully adjustable monotube dampers etc, so certainly worth a try - although being the guinea pig for a setup is never the cheapest way of doing...
After fitting, when you lower the car back down to the floor, the spring is held in place between the rubber top thing (technical term) and the bottom spring platform. As below:
Same as the standard setup:
Personally, i found that H&R's rattled quite a bit at the rear compared to standard -...
Why close thread? Sensible question imho, we've tried the standard ones, then Sportlines/Prolines/MF Springs, why not the CookSport?
The owner os CookSport does race in the Clio Cup's, so id like to think he knows what hes doing.
You need the shims for standard pads (or they will rattle).
Generally they are not required for race/trackday compounds as they need the additional room to expand when hot. From memory, the DS2500's still have the anti rattle springs so dont rattle without shims, but Carbon Lorraines do not...
Firstly, dont accept the 2nd offer, secondly, post pictures of the damage so we can offer some advice as to how to get it fixed.
Then you can get a payout, buy the car back & fix it back up for a pittance.
Clio parts are soo cheap!!
They just offer slightly below Glasses trade price iirc.
Webuyanycar is just Carcraft, who are a well known group of mongs.
Perfect buying place for 96% of the buying public.
More normal pricing you mean?!!? I give it 6 months before BG stop selling them Sachs parts, its not like it hasnt happened before when another supplier has started doing cheaper refurbs ...
If they havent advised you to get the cambelt done (every 5 yrs regardless of mileage), does that mean the aux belt (every 36k / 3 years) hasnt been done either ?!!
