I can well imagine that Francis! 🤣
Westport is a lovely wee town isn't it and that bit of coast road that heads out there with Croagh Patrick on the left and the sea on the right is, if my memory serves, a bit of a cracker, both in terms of scenery and the driving! In fact, I think my Dad and...
Surely, following recommendations from a well regarded specialist in these cars, as well as known good practice to replace the item with the belts, is an example of looking after the car? No?
End of 2026 Nick. Happy to send them your way, remind me.. ;)
I can't guarantee they'll be like new though, remember... a few hundred "quality" miles per year. 😆
Yes, dephaser & water pump. I personally think it's prudent to do these items as routine with the belts, and Mick advises the same. But each to their own.
You'd be horrified I change tyres every 3 years too, irrespective of wear... even on the works vehicles. 😰
Well. Prepare yourself. The parts cost alone for gen belts has more than doubled in the last couple of years. With the gen Aux belt being unavailable from Renault for a big chunk of 2023... which was a real ball ache.
My belts service by Mick at Diamond last year set me back £905.09...
I don't think that's an unusual price and am pretty sure Mick wouldn't be mugging me off.
Similarly, the belts service on my 200 Cup was £1037.00
It was an expensive week...
It's been to Mick at Diamond Motors for work, that is enough of a good sign to me of the type of owner and the fettle the car is in. The seller seems honest about the bubbling on the rear arch which again tell's me he's not trying to hide anything.
The price is probably reflective of the higher...
Main bodywork rust worries are the rear three quarters - round the arches, fuel filler area and the back end of the sills. It seems hit and miss which cars are affected, with to be honest, the majority being fine. It's some of the low mileage stuff I've seen which are utterly horrendous...
Great! If you get one, you'll have to join in the 'Trophy's to Ireland Tour' I hope to one day organise. When I had #069 when it was new, it spent a lot of time in Ireland, perfect for the roads 'out West'.... ;) 🤣
I'd be wary of buying on mileage alone though, I've seen some low mileage - absolute horror stories in recent times. Better to buy on condition, history and upkeep than the numbers on the clock in my view.
Edited to add: That said, a well looked after, sorted low mileage example of anything...
@Love that Turbo
I personally think this looks like a decent proposition, #147 - back on eBay and now only £7k with a spares package available:

@Love that Turbo Well worth reading this article by Craig about Trophy living costs:

My guess is that's it's been floating about in the trade for a good chunk of that time, and traders generally aren't going to go to the bother or expense of doing either of those things, potentially 2k + of maintenance work is going to wipe out any profit in the vehicle.
Service consumable parts, seals, shafts etc are still available, but other internal components and the outer bodies are NLA. As I found out to my considerable cost a few years ago. As I've said before, it's only because a kind member of this forum was able to help me out that #407 continues to...
Welcome to the forum Vincent.
I'm not sure I've got much to add to what's been said already, the Sachs, as others have said, are key to the car really, but it's sensible to budget for refurbishment (usually around £1k with BG) of them at some stage. It's a near 20 year old car now, so certain...
🤣 Awesome machine. There's just so much about these that I like.
This one seems to have been absolutely lavished with attention and as you say just 9k miles, it's a pure collectors item isn't it.
(Would look great in your showroom Nick, next to the Trophy... 🚗🚗 )
@NickReilly063 ...Further to our chinwag at 'The Motorist', look what I just saw on Pistonheads... 😁 (y)

🤣 We're all different aren't we... I'm perhaps a bit weird as I quite like the lack of aircon in my storm grey 200 Cup, as it marks it out as a 'proper' factory Cup amidst the confusion of what's a Cup and what's not in the world of 200's. And to be honest, where I live, these days I'd only ever...
