Great post! I keep thinking it'll be a good few years before I can afford anything more fun to drive than a Trophy, at the moment can't think of anything this side of an Exige!
That'd be the Mk2 scene then ;)
Only thing I have to say is at 6'4" I think you'll struggle to get a comfortable driving position in the Trophy but I could be wrong, depends on your proportions!
That would be appreciated. I'll do the A-pillar test next time I get the chance. The problem is I've not driven many cars so its hard to tell what's normal and what's not.
I'd describe the ride as fairly crashy at low speeds, front end grip is good but to me the car never feels that "planted"...
Mine haven't been done, #110 has 41k on the clock. I barely use the car so don't feel I can justify £500 when there doesn't seem anything glaringly wrong.
To those whose dampers have failed, is it obvious and how do you tell??
Many thanks in advance.
Haven't upset anyone that I can think of. It took quite a deal of convincing myself I was being overly paranoid about the dangers of street parking prior to buying a permit and bringing it here. Then I get proved right! :(
Found it like this on Sunday morning (also posted on PH):
Had #110 in Edinburgh less than two weeks parked in what I thought was a decent enough area. Have learned my lesson and moved it back to a secure garage in the countryside.
Really upsets me that someone has felt the need to do this :(
I don't do anything much to mine largely because I can't afford to, haven't even had its dampers done. Mods it has are the ones it came with: Powerflow exhaust, carbon-fibre splitter (looks good IMO) and mudflaps. Only things I've done is replace the gearknob for a richbrook one and add some...
Elephant for me. 21yo, 3yr NCB, fully comp, insured for 5k miles, garaged in rural postcode, and nationwide breakdown cover for £818 which is pretty good IMO.
Seeing as I started this may as well update: #110 is on 40,313 after having a few months of summer fun! :D
Will spend from now till spring mostly garaged hardly doing any miles. Going over 40k hurt a little bit but seeing as my annual mileage is so low I'm not too fussed. In a year or two...
Nice example but IMO there is NO point in paying such a premium for a low miles car unless you plan to garage it/rarely use it/keep it forever. Plenty of nice examples around with far higher miles that have been serviced religiously etc etc.
Possibly. The mileage is practically a novelty in itself!
Its obviously been well looked after to get this far so there will be someone who isn't bothered by such high miles.
Stick it up for £5k and if no takers keep it. :D
I'm not sure what to suggest exhaust-wise (my Powerflow is rattling and needs re-welding after only 3 years on the Trophy) but I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you re-think your spending.
IMO there is no point in making a 1.2 look like a renaultsport car. You will spend a shedload on...
Definitely! :D
I was originally after a 182 Cup (not knowing much about Trophys) then I saw a lovely Trophy in the PH classifieds a mere 20mins drive away (quite something given I was expecting to have to drive several hundred miles down to England for a car) so I thought it must be fate! :p...
Saw SX55***(i think!) coming out of Dunecht in Aberdeen direction about 4.30pm.
I was in silver Mk4 Golf heading other direction, if I'd have been in the Trophy I would have flashed! :D
