A CF induction kit sounds like just the sort of mod to do - harmless but beneficial. Where did you get it from rodger ? I've done a search on google and not found anything for the Trophy...
You won't be disappointed - I went first last month and now I'm forever thinking about when I can get there again.
After the first lap you think "Bloody hell, I survived". And then look at the watch and see it took about 14 minutes ! Lots to learn....
At the nurburgring this was causing some amusement in the car park - someone told me they thought I had a problem as they had heard a crunching sound under the car, others looked at me as if I was a crap driver, perhaps letting off the handbrake late or something.
All sorted now I think - at 130 mph the car feels very stable, doesn't wander and wheel is straight. Definitely helped that trye pressures are now even  - tyre pressures were 5 psi different between left and right rear when I checked after starting this thread!!
At least now with a...
As for hotels, I found Hotel am Tiergarten fine, about 45 euros a night B&B, and it has a good restaurant on site, the Pistenklause.
Best route is probably to Calais, as much quicker than Hook of Holland.
Really though, you need to check out Ben Lovejoy's site, www.nurburgring.org.uk , if...
David, to give you an idea - two Sundays ago, no room in car park, queues to get into car park, I managed 7 laps in the whole day because of queues and closures.
The next day Monday, just an afternoon session (1pm to 7.30pm I think) and I managed 15 laps, little traffic, few closures, plenty...
This rattle is what I get under the passenger seat, backing off at about 4,300 revs. It hasn't caused any problems yet, but if anyone finds out what it is, it'd be great to know !
Yes, it would be great to get a few Trophys there.
No, I didn't know the Ring at all well - I just went in September and did 12 laps in my wife's car (I know, and we're still speaking!).
I reckon it was 20 - 25 laps before I knew exactly where the track went and what was coming up next, but it...
That smell is probably a combination of clutch, gearbox, brakes just being hot / "bedding in". Completely normal, I think - I'm still getting it after 1,500 miles and had it on previous new cars.
I've probably already posted this somewhere, but not impressed with Renault Birmingham - car was over a week late, had been thrashed by the technicians, no fuel in it, and a couple of faults I had to sort out for myself.
So give it a thorough check and then enjoy it !!!
Found out mine when I picked the car up, but didn't remember it well - posted the wrong number here on the owner's page, but only one digit out, so I suppose I'll wait 'til the real 373 steps forward......
Definitely up for a Ring trip with other Trophys next Spring !
Went this weekend for Sunday and Monday, managed 19 laps, the best of which were in the 10s (minutes!), but know there's still lots to learn, as I was overtaken by a Focus RS !!
The Trophy driven well wouldn't be overtaken by much...
Thanks a lot for the tips and reassurance!
I'll be checking the alignment this week and getting the alarm sorted in a few weeks when I'm next near the dealer...
Thanks for the tip, Matt, I've got a 800-900 mile round trip this weekend, so I'll know for sure if it's something to worry about after that.
It will be good to get the alignment checked for starters...
Picked up the Trophy last weekend and dealer said no need to follow any running in procedure, go for it from the start.
They shouldn't encourage us....
A few problems with my Trophy, picked up from the dealer last Saturday:
1. Alarm is oversensitive and almost always goes off 30 seconds or so after setting with one press of the key.
In the manual I've discovered that if you turn on the ignition and turn it off again immediately, this...
Yes, I wasn't happy seeing my Trophy with 32 miles on it when I picked it up on Saturday. But dealer promised cheque for full tank of fuel, and in any case, I wasn't not going to drive away in it...
I've bought USED cars before with lower miles than that, it was disappointing!
Well, dealer has said he now has car and I should finally get it tomorrow. That's only 8 days after the delivery date, so not too bad. Looking forward to the morning !!!
Hi
I'm beginning to feel the same, but hope all will be resolved tomorrow.
Ordered mine 31 August, told three weeks to delivery.
Then that it had been moved back, no definite date.
Now possibly this Saturday, may hear tomorrow.
Just a bit disappointing to be told not yet, not yet, not yet...
Thanks for the AutoTune article, DieHard. Interesting stuff. Is that why salesmen rarely tell you to worry about running it in now?
Certainly with my last two cars I was told running it in wasn't really needed for the engine, but to give it a couple of hundred gentle miles for the brakes and tyres.
Alternatively again, and much less fun than Kinnyboy's idea =D> , is to get the £300 gap cover from Renault, which gives you back the invoice price of your motor when it gets lost or totalled. I got this, anyway...
Well done Matty. You're lucky too - only two weeks' wait. :)
Ordered mine end of August, getting it next weekend, has seemed a never-ending wait!
