I'll take firsty as a compliment, thanks.
I hope to be at the Ring a few times this year, will get a year pass first time I can get there in the Spring, and I'll gladly compare times of a standard Trophy and a standard Williams, if I've still got the Trophy this summer ! Are there any...
Best place for a Trophy / Williams face off should be the Nurburgring, long enough for the car to really show what it can do. This Spring?
But making it a race-prepared Williams versus a standard Trophy is already an acknowledgement of defeat...
I always go in the tunnel, it's much quicker and only 44 quid for 1 or 2 day return.
Allow at least 3 hours from Calais to get to central Paris and park, although only 2 to the outskirts.
Nice places that are nearer depend on what you like - Arras is a nice, small old town to have lunch in...
Good advert. Good luck with the sale.
You'll be glad I didn't decide on trading mine in for a Boxster or Cayman then, I was going to put mine up at £11,500 no offers !!!
Any news, wigstar ?
I went to the local dealer today, after having the same temperature needle problem about two weeks ago, then doing about 800 miles since without any trouble.
Dealer hooked it up to the diagnostic stuff and spent 5 minutes or so checking various bits, declaring it fine...
I had that the other day, quite off-putting.
Pulled over, switched car off, started up again and it settled back at half way and didn't move after that. I assumed some sort of loose connection rather than fast and huge changes in engine temperature, so nothing too serious !
Another little...
I know what people mean about different sizes, but they are all still hot hatches. Before i got the Trophy, I was thinking of getting another Focus RS. I was after a "good" fwd car to do a few trips to the Ring in, so I wasn't picking a hot hatch on size, so RS and Trophy were natural...
Moderators, what does it take before someone is banned ? All the abuse aimed at Stromba is OK is it ? OK for kids reading this to read ?
Anyway, back to the thread..
I thought the most interesting thing on the Fifth gear test was that every car was well below its claimed power figures.
EVO...
I was lucky in that the first and so far only time my head came into contact with the boot lid was when I was straightening up after crouching to get something in the boot. So just back of head against plastic interior.
Otherwise if I walked into the open boot lid it would be at nose / eye...
What you're saying sounds like good sense Stromba, but my CSL was a former BMW track car, driven hard from day one. I then did the same for 9,000 miles and never had the slightest problem. Nothing ever gave any hint of the hard work it had always done. The owner since me hasn't reported any...
Good one.
It always annoys me how these insurance quotes can suddenly drop a couple of hundred quid by mentioning another quote. Why can't they just offer you a fair price to begin with ?
OK, I know it's all about profit, but it feels like theft. Next time a company tells me they'll match...
I sort of agree with Matt the cat and Stromba - having thought about getting a new filter, new exhaust, removing rear seats, getting roll cage, harnesses, upgrading brakes and hoses etc, in the end I thought there's actually something quite cool about leaving an easily and often modded car...
Can't get Optimax where I am. Shell do have something called V-Power though, which is meant to do the same. And the good thing about heading often to Germany is the 101 RON fuel you get everywhere there... (I assume that's what 98 ROZ equates to ?)
OliS, I know exactly what you mean now the boot's on the other foot !!!
Personally of course, I was always considerate towards faster road users when in the BM, there just weren't many of them.
I really don't think of it as a step down at all. A great car is a great car, whether it costs £13,000 and has 180 bhp or £60,000 and 360 bhp.
Main reason for getting rid of it - moving house and now not having a garage. Secondary reason - I never seem to keep cars very long !
It's a great car, loved the SMG gearbox, engine, noise, drive, speed.
But hated the understeer, the brakes and the fact the tyres didn't last in the dry...
I had a similar issue when I picked the car up - the rear driver's side tyre was 5 psi lower than the other side. The dealer wasn't in the least bit interested when I told them.
I asked the panel of experts on the renaultsport forum what pressures to use on track and their answer was...
Anyway, thanks for the reviews posted. I don't buy English car mags now I'm in France, so it's good to get a chance to read the reviews.
As for Stromba, this is just like Lord of the Flies, picking out someone to eliminate in order to make our little world harmonious. If you never read a...
