You'll get bored of having to rev to a gazillion rpm in the Civic, plus the cornering isn't up to the Trophy. Reliability should be better, but on balance, I've driven my workmat'es civic, but bought a Trophy.
Cupras can be tuned to stupid RPM, but feel like a shopping trolley when you turn in...
Sharp yank on the wheel does it nicely. Roundabouts on national limit dual carriageways are favourite on public roads (all done safely of course, ahem)
Mate of mine trying in vain to keep up in his Alfa commented on the tripod nature when I really chucked it in...
Let's put it this way, I test drove a cupped 182 and didn't buy. Test drove a Trophy and went for it. The seats and slight suspension seats make all the difference.
You'll never look back :)
BTW, my brother had a couple of RS Escorts which I had a thrash in here and there, and although...
I honestly think you may not have the seat set quite right.
The reason I say this is that I recently had spinal surgery (3 level lumbar fusion, couple of dozen bits of metal in my lower back) and find the Trophy far and away the most comfortable place to sit.
My consultant and Physio agree...
Yay, I've been spotted at last.
Yup, that would be me picking my other half up from work following a trip to the physio. Actually, it's a couple of weeks ago, so it might just have been my other half come to think!
Once we get under the M1, the journey is much more fun :)
Spotted what seemed to be a phase 2 Vee in the queing traffic on the M1 at Jn 31 yesterday . Was stuck there for ages due to fuel spillage, but it meant ahem, nice empty motorway once we passed it.
I've just watched a repeat of top gear with the S2000, Boxster and Z4 facing off. All got 1:37 and change round the test track, the 182 cup got 1:33.8.
Next time someone refuses to believe how quick Cliosports are, I no longer have to take them for a quick thrash, I can simply refer them to...
Good call, personal plates should be compulsary on all tweaky cars. I even had one for the C2 GT I had briefly - actually made a profit on the plate when I sold too (C2GTU).
That does look a snug fit in the garage...
If you're not wanting to thrash the car around, the 182 full fat will do you nicely, and has a few more "home comforts" such as the auto air con, xenon ights etc. Sounds like the windows might have had an aftermarket tint applied to them, might be an idea to ask about that. Look on the bright...
Had a bag of fun going over the snake pass to Manc yesterday. Bottle gave up before grip in every corner. Coming back over Woodhead was a bit dull though.
Welcome all, and gl with the promotion.
All Clios are welcome, plus anyone interested in them even if they own something like a H*nd* at the moment.
To be honest, if it's just a weekend car, I'd hang fire. You will lose an awful lot of cash on the 1.2 when you sell or trade in, so you might as well wait a wee while for Trophy (and other 182) prices to drop. You'll get a much better deal all round and will end up with a lot more car for your...
Yup, think hub carriers were part of the "tweaking" of the cup setup.
Here's some press release blurb re Trophy suspension in general:
The suspension is based on the Cup set-up. As a reminder, over the normal Renaultsport 182, this has lower ride height, stiffer springs (20% front, 15%...
Nope, I certainly didn't, but then again, you shouldn't really be paying full ask for any car, although I'll grant that Renault do discount more than, say VW.
I'll still prolly have a test drive though, just to be sure
Wow, there's a lot of kit on there that used to be standard and is now chargeable:
OTR price £15995.
Options:
Auto Lights and Wipers - £75.00
Tyre Pressure Monitor - £250.00
Climate Control (only available with auto lights etc) - £250.00
Electric Heated / folding door...
Get ye to the scrappers.
I think the splitter is the same on the 182 and 172.
There are more 172 cups in the scrappers each year when it gets icy. No offence to 172 cup owners, but traction control can be handy day to day :)
OK, overall it runs something like this:
182 Non cup (otherwise known as full fat) - Heaviest and highest of the lot, but has Xenon headlights, automatic climate control, all the bells and whistles.
Then comes cupped 182 full fat. This is a full fat with factory fit options. You retain the...
