Did you get the car from a dealer? If so, you should try and get them to provide on free of charge. Other than the Renault one, K-tec racing do a carbon fibre one for £105, which looks wicked, one of the only visual mods I would consider doing to the Trophy.
Congrats and thanks to Nik and Day on setting up and running such a good forum! :D
I really enjoy being part of this community, even if we don't all get together very often, just sharing experiences and points of view is a really cool thing.
Yeah I think you have got it spot on there mate, the bottom of the jacking points aren't made to take the forces of jacking the car up. I was using a trolley jack, because it is quicker and easier to use than the Renault one, or so I thought!
Glad to hear I am not alone with this one...not going to use the points anymore though, too much movement in them for me to feel safe when I am under the car.
Probably drove around for a week in total with it playing up, was replaced under warranty in a day. Although your car is modified, you've got nothing to loose by trying to get the work done under warranty, I've had modified cars repaired under warranty before (VW and Peugeot, never tried with...
Helped my mate change his oil on his Teggy Type R recently, and we could not find anywhere decent under the car to jack up from, so using a trolley jack, we jacked up using the jacking points, and everything went fine.
So I decided to use the same method on the Trophy (despite having used...
I prefer doing standing starts with ESP/TCS off, it may not be any quicker but it is more fun and involving, working out what are the most revs and throttle you can use without the wheels slipping too much.
Had the very same problem myself, dodgy water temperature sensor, mine was never so bad that it cut out though. Got this reply from a Renault techie when I posted about my temperature gauge.
The only times I get the front wheels spinning are out of tight second gear corners, which I actually find great fun, a bit of a tussle between the road the car and me! I know it's probably not as efficient as using a little less throttle and keeping traction, but it's damn good fun! :P
You...
Taking over from Pete G's post in the number plate thread, how does everyone use their ESP? (no responses about extra sensory perception please! )
Day to day driving, I just leave it on, you never know when you may need it's assitance (oil on the roads etc).
When I'm driving hard...
I've got the fear about how good the new Cooper GP could be, it got a great review in Evo this month and as it is so new it is a bit of an unknown competitior.
Can't wait for this article! :D
Renault do say in the service booklet that if you do at least 50% of journeys at an average speed of less than 18 mph, then you should change your oil and filter every 6,000 miles. It's never going to harm your engine getting your oil changed so it will probably be worth getting it done...
I really like them, they look a lot less bulky and yet more supportive than the Trophy seats, having said that I would never change the seats in my Trophy. These seats would probably end up costing near a grand for a pair, it would just not be worth swapping.
Good little write up by that guy on Cliosport, but I would say that as he only said good things about the Trophy!
Pretty sure it is Stromba's Williams as further down the post the guy says it was number 2 (Stromba has 0002 and 0200).
Let battle commence, hope the Trophy comes out on top as...
One picture I did like in this months Evo, was of the optional Recaro's in the 197, think they are just an more modern version of the Trophy Recaro's, but they look fantastic.
It seems like Evo were quite taken by the 197, saying that "point to point it would take a very talented driver in a...
I use Automglym Ultra Deep Shine, followed by a coating of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. Polish and protect twice a year, seems to be enough to keep the paint a lovely shiny red!
There are some good photos there, thanks for posting!
Good to see a nice mix of R'sport Clios there, everything from Clio Williams/16v hybrids, to 182/Trophy's and even a Meggy F1. Can't wait for the day at Brands even more now...
Wonder who owned the Trophy's? Can't remember seeing a...
