I've just started using Tesco's 99RON Super, as it's a whole 10p cheaper a litre than Optimax was recently near me. I know it's supermarket fuel but I've read and heard that it's not the usual supermarket dross. It's made by a company called Greenergy, contains 5% bio-ethanol, and is supposed to...
I quoted 4.75 litres in the oil change guide as this is what Renault quote in the owners manual. Since then I've changed my oil twice, and I can confirm that a full 5 litre bottle will bring the oil level up to the max level.
I've now updated the oil change guide to advise that you will need...
Final video, no other Trophy's I'm afraid! Just me, with a dry line and no traffic, one of my fastest laps on the day - http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 2&hl=en-GB
Here's some more footage -
Following carnut and chiefbadger - http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 3&hl=en-GB
Following Nik - http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 4&hl=en-GB
Followiing carnut and another forum memeber in his 172 Cup -...
Thanks guys! :D
carnut - I've got some more good footage from later on in that session and from a couple of the later sessions following just you, including a moment we both had a bit of a laugh about after!
oliie - The mount I use is a made by these guys -...
Managed to get some good multi Trophy on track videos - here's me trying to catch up with chiefbadger, carnut and another unknown Trophy.
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 2&hl=en-GB
More footage to come :D
The video is not that great quality, despite the fact that the file I...
You are too kind Lee!
Driven well the 197 was seriously quick on track, an optimised Trophy version seems like an excellent idea, I just can't get the memory of how impressive the brakes were out of my head! I spoke to Nik at the time about if they would fit on a Trophy and he thinks...
Although in reality, it was a also a case of the Trophy not letting him past! I was up for seeing how fast a well driven 197 could be on track, I was driving very near to my absolute limit, and Lee and the 197 were always there looming large in my mirrors! :)
The 197 is a very impressive...
Just got off the phone with the guys at Aurok, and they have informed me that you can dial in the required camber using the std camber bolts, but the top camber bolt has to have some material machined away from the shoulder of the bolt to allow the adjustment. This is apparently what they have...
Aurok told me they dialled in-2.0 degrees using the std camber bolts :?
Wigstar told me he had the same experience at Northampton Motorsport when he went there recently, they also could not dial in enough camber using the std bolts.
Whilst my Trophy was at Aurok, I asked if the std camber...
Two bits of good news in one thread. One man decides to keep his Trophy and another announces his purchase! Another number for the register as well! :D
I pretty much just left them to do their stuff, gave suggestions about how I wanted the car to handle and what other people had suggested to me about front camber settings (ie. -2 degrees on the fronts). If you search through the old posts on this subject I am sure you will be abel to find some...
Rentech for me as I am a Southern lad, and they were great when me and the missus freshened up the Williams supension there earlier in the year.
There are both positive and negative threads about GDI on the internet, never used them myself, so I can't comment, hopefully someone who has had...
I've just swopped my worn fronts to the rears, got 4mm tread left on them, and I didn't fancy their chances surviving Brands this month if they were still on the front. I only find there are handling issues having less tread on the rears in the rain, so I just take it a bit easier in the wet...
Excellent vid, never seen this one before. The camera angle and the stage are class!
It's good to think that the guy R'sport say developed the Trophy is also a rallying legend. :D
Don't think Renault will ever produce a car as specialsed as the one you describe Steve, unless they have to do it for homologation...a la the Williams
I do expect to see a Trophy version of the 197, as far as I can work out the 182 Trophy has been a huge success.
We all know what they look like, but it doesn't stop them looking great! :D
Like the way you've parked it on the kerb to give it the ultra low stance
I sort out my trackday insurance through http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/
Works out about 1% of you cars value, and the excess is about 10% of the insured value.
Donnington would make an awesome first trackday, not done it myself, but the Craner curves look legendary.
I've...
Damn it! Just bought a new tyre as I've got a trackday in a couple of weeks, so I am skint for this month. Was hoping to buy a wheel and tyre from yourself in time for the trackday, but I thought I should get a tyre sorted in case these weren't available in time...if you've still got one for...
What the hell is this thread about? It's so utterly pointless, I don't think any of us here care that the Teggy won the best fwd car in Evo, in fact I think that most of us are just happy that the Trophy came second (which incidentally makes it in their eyes the best fwd hatchback :P )
I know...
Yeah it is down in Hampshire, was really just letting you know the settings I am running. Paid £110 cash in hand, no VAT or receipt though so I guess that is why the work was realtively cheap. :D
Still on the same balancing weights as from the factory, but I have had my alignment changed, as have a few other owners on here (7MAT and Neophyte).
Running -2.00 degrees camber on the fronts, -1.70 at the rear. Whilst the car is now keener to follow road cambers, I feel that I have greater...
