In fact it was for somewhat selfish reasons of mine that the "Heritage Fleet" got started by me when I was the PR Manager at Renault UK because I wanted to be able to carry on driving the Clio Trophy and V6 after they went off sale!
The Spider from the 90s I kept because it was so unique but...
The low owner low mileage non original Press cars were all lovely.
The R4 in red I can see why it is over £10k on the auction as a mint late model.
I sat in the little R5. Lovely soft squishy seats like Renaults of the 70s and 80s had.
The 3 old Clios were also lovely .
oh and to add to my wish...
Oh yes that is minty fresh. The A110 had a full restoration by RUK when they bought it 4 years ago and it is absolutely ridiculous that they are selling a car that could have been used for decades to come at Press and customer events.
I understand selling the RS cars as the brand is dead but...
The Megane #001 with the red wheels looked very good and definitely is the better of the two. I would be happy to buy that and the Clio Trophy to have a matching pair of #001.
Now just to search down the back of a large sofa but when again will you have the chance to buy 2 #001 cars!
So having viewed the car today I would say it is an honest example that has taken the abuse well and is in much better original condition than the LY V6.
It has a few small stone chips etc but has not had any poor resprays etc that I can see.
The interior also seems good.
So with a little money...

It clearly is a dealer because the V5 are showing 0 previous owners so he had no intention of keeping these cars but simply reselling them for a profit whatever story he might have told Renault UK or that he now has "financial trouble" What in the few weeks since he bought them!
Err no you don't buy an ex Press car if you want a mint one. It may be 1 owner but it's 100's of drivers with sweaty arses sat in the seat ragging it to death!
As others have said you buy it for its history and being 001.
Press cars often have a respray on the front bumper once or twice in their...
If he has bought these from RUK and not just on commission he will make a hefty profit because RUK will not have been able to guess their real values. shame no one at RUK had the brains to sell them direct through Collecting Cars
That's annoying.
I Would wait to see what 001 - the RUK Car - gets on Collecting Cars which went live this morning and will surely set a new world record , then list yours on the back of that in a week or so. You might get nearer £20k if 001 goes over £30k
2005 RENAULTSPORT CLIO 182 TROPHY - #001 - 16,478 MILES (collectingcars.com)
Sure to beat the current price record. Will it be the first £30k plus car?
A video live this morning on Collecting Cars with Chris Harris announces that Renault UK is selling off it's heritage fleet of cars
I guess now the next generation is going to be electric they have no need to promote Renault Sport models as the brand is dead
Tis is trophy number 001 I think...
2005 RENAULTSPORT CLIO 182 TROPHY (collectingcars.com)
and for when the advert disappears, it's 67000 miles and nearly standard apart from Scorpion exhaust.
SERVICE HISTORY
This Clio 182’s most recent routine maintenance was an oil and filter service, which was carried out in May 2019 at...
So according to #342 thread they have trying to sell this since January 2018 so 3 and half years now.
started out at £19k
Eventually someone might pay this much and using Millennium Heros is probably the best way to do it as they have a good track record with selling at high prices.
I see that a thread has resurrected the idea of getting a model of the Clio Trophy though the proposal was only for a 1:43 model .
I think our best chance for a 1:18 model is to lobby Ottomobile as they have already made a Clio 172 Ragnotti/Cup which is very similar even down to using the same...
yes for a 1:18 for sure.
We should all lobby OTTO as they could easily do one as they have done the 172 cup /Ragnotti in the past which has the same wheels and basic trim / no headlamp washers etc so it would be an easy upgrade for them.
I will start a new thread on this as I will email them...
Hello fellow Trophy fans.
When the Trophy was voted the best hot hatch ever on Pistonheads a few months ago, I was asked by them to explain how it came about, as I was one of the three people responsible for its creation back when I was the PR Manager for Renault UK between 1994 and 2007...
The market as a whole has been dropping for 2 years so the drop in Trophy prices just reflects the market.
Brexit, recession worries blah blah blah means fewer people spend money on trinkets they don't need.
And now when the Government says no new petrol cars can be sold in only 15 years...
I agree with you Chris especially as the origins of a hot hatch in the '70s was to provide "Ford Capri / Toyota Celica" Coupe like performance for 4 adults at a cheaper price.
I let my heart rule when voting in the poll though ;) but I will be happy to see the Trophy win - which it is at the...
I'm surprised nobody on here posted about the poll that Pistonsheads is doing for best Hot Hatch of the 21st Century that it is running.
10 days ago they asked for nominations of cars from 2000 onwards ( so no old 205 GTi or Clio Williams) and it has understandably been a popular discussion...
One section that is missing from this otherwise excellent site is a Press Reviews section where all the great reviews that the Trophy has received over the years can be uploaded, linked to and discussed. Perhaps put under the Media section, at the moment whenever a magazine review comes up it is...
