Seems an okay price, dependant on condition of course. As Ed says, unless you have a receipt for recent work be wary about slapping them straight onto the car. Chances are they will fine but they may also fail quite suddenly. That is however, Trophy life.
Finding a spare set of Sachs these days will almost be a matter of luck. Your best bet is to buy a pair of cup dampers to fit whist the Sachs are off, someone is actually more likely to have these and want to sell. You can then move them on after.
You can pick these up from Renault parts direct...
Oh yeah, mine is far from perfect and has plenty of “optional” stuff on it. It’s just things like the above, the washer blanks, exhaust surrounds etc etc. If the car doesn’t have these or has poor copies fitted it just looks wrong.
And btw the way, the guys on the oe Renault 5 GTT FB page are...
Umm, not sure. Looks like the replacement.
It‘s a bit pathetic really isn’t it…..
Yes that is the number of the replacement. So that is the version at the bottom of my original pic. The original taken off my car is the top one, it has a section like above. It has a bump at the bottom which is...
Just to clarify here and I am quite happy to accept the charge of nitpicking, but the version recommended as a replacement is okay but it IS different. The two moulded lugs on the back for a start, you have to cut these off. The font is very slightly different and on the original there is a...
Interesting. So what do you think it actually is? I guess I always thought it was painted but never gave it much time.
As discussed at £70 for a good one, you would think costs should be covered.
Also, make sure you have the correct version before you buy. You will need the version with both ac and air recycle buttons, lots of good ones out there missing the ac.
Like many parts these days, discontinued and unavailable from Renault. They do appear on eBay on a fairly regular basis but are mostly pretty poor. I would be expecting to pay £60/70 for a decent version (which I am also looking for)
Auto locking? Mine only does that if I unlock using the fob and then don’t actually open any of the doors. If I open one of the doors it will presumably sit there for years unlocked 🤔
I have one good and one not so great set and getting them whist I can, I have snoozed whilst loads of other parts have become unavailable. I now have enough to cover my spare sets of dampers.
What the OE from France? No.
With carriage I paid a little over £90 iirc which as they are original and made for purpose compares pretty favourably with the £50+ for the Powerflex version.
Just arrived. I’m pretty amazed how quick that was, with my very rudimentary schoolboy French, I wasn’t even sure I had ordered them correctly.
Now to find some other interesting bits.
Would not the heat process affect seals, oils pressures etc. Not that I know but surely they powdercoat after disassembly and before reassembly.
In answer to the question, when I had mine refurbed I did search for them original paint code, couldn’t find and failed to get a good match so in the...
I was going to add a “and poof there goes the market” but looking at the pictures of that one and in the expectation I will upset someone. A bit of effort cleaning would probably have gained a few extra bids.
Mmmmm, I get a sense of this ^ too. I bought a watch using the sister site (pretty much by mistake) and I’m not sure I would do it again. They guide you, but you do feel a little that you are left hanging on your own with very little protection. But then again it is just a glorified auction site...
