It's more for me about getting units back on cars so owners can see why they are so good than making money. Owners are scared off by silly prices and miss out on the whole point of the car by not running them
I understand BG are running a buisiness but their prices are way too high for most owners
Sorry not a very good explination there.... £100 is for a Normal chromed shaft like the std Sachs unit
£120 is for a shaft with DLC coating .... Dark grey colour and hard as Diamond that will never wear out again....
So servicing if the shafts are ok is £400 , This includes powder coating and de pinning... BG charge £440 without powdercoating or de pinning .. That adds £120 and £170 to their price... Total of £730
Rik Perry. £400 + £100 or £120 per shaft needed ( DLC adds the extra £10 ) but my shafts...
It pretty much a set price .. As I have to carry out the same process anyway.. It's always new oil , new seals, new bushes, and all the small internal parts on the adjuster that rust up new to be replace.. The only saving could be to not have them powdercoated but I am not in the position to put...
Looks like the parts that were stored in the car have scratched the centre console area a bit .. That's a shame..
But other than that she looks as tidy as any car I've seen lately.. Well done
Therein lies the magic... It's a case of disassembling the adjuster body and playing with the non adjustable rebound shim stack.. And a little bit of experimentation on the dyno...
I think that might be the next move from my service. Test a set with different rebound. Alth I'm sure they knew what they were doing when they specced the units !!
They are powder coated.. And yes they are pre treated before coating .. I have them done by a company that has done Motorsport work for me in the past ..
Thats the base difference between the Bump damping and the Rebound damping strength .... In my opinion the rebound damping is a bit too strong but that is non adjustable from the factory even with de pinned units ..
I think we could do with finding someone decent for the future as values are on the up and a few owners have allready had problems with low valuations from std insurers...
Any ideas gang ???
Good read .. But does anyone else think the right rear wheel in the picture look very cambered in ?? Does the rear beam flex so much during hard cornering or is it my eyes ?
I guess we will see.... I like the idea of stronger torque curve ... But at the price you would be well on the way to a low boost conversion..
For me it's about keeping the mods easy to reverse and if I didn't like it prices seem strong to sell it on..
That's good to hear... No rush on deciding what to do... Like I said if cash it tight right now give me a DM and we can work something out .. Just don't leave them to get worse or it'll cost more in the long run ..
Happy to take the rebuild on to get you sorted. @Miller are you cup dampers already sold ? Perhaps he can roll on those to get him thro the MOT ?
@ Portland If the dampers are leaking it's better to sort them sooner than later as the chances of shaft wear increase greatly being driven un gassed...
