I'll be going out a couple of times next year, once in spring and then again towards the end of the summer. Toying with going midweek next time round as weekends seem to be insanely busy these days. I'll post details of my trips as soon as I know more, I'm always up for meeting like minded...
Evening all! :)
Well it's been a whle since my last post..but it feels good to be back trawling the boards!
Number 351 is now sporting a lovely set of Yoko Parada's (perfectly in time for winter! ) and although they've only been on for 500 miles, initial impressions are good...
I thought the Renault assistance only lasted for a year from the date of purchase...but I don't have the docs with me to check either!
At any rate, I used Vehicle Rescue Direct the last time I took my Trophy into mainland Europe, think it was about £25 for a weeks cover.
You are right the Williams did have those pop out windows, I guess it's a case of Renault saving money...or they are trying to tell us that you really shouldn't have anyone in the back!
 Shocking about Renault, but fantastic news about Rentech, that's such good customer service! Bumped into Mike at the 'Ring, had a chat about my car, which despite the amount of Trophy's that go there, he even remembered working on!!! Top bloke, top service! :D
Only half way through the article (although I had seen which car won before reading the main article!) but it's already got me lying awake at night doing the figures, working out if a good clean E30 M3 can still be found, and if so is it realistic daily transport...Evo can nurture some expensive...
Pretty sure the only track orientated tyres you can get in the right size for the Trophy wheels are Kumho V70 or Hankook RS2, which have some good reports from what I've read about them. Would love to have another set of Trophy rims with Kumho's on them for trackdays, but it's out of my price...
I like it, and I'm glad that there is at least one mainstream car manufacturer that is still prepared to offer the driving enthusiast even more focused variants of the base sports model.
So it's a big thumbs up from me to Renault, and I'm looking forward to see if Renault will produce a model...
Spotted another Trophy in Woking this morning, under the railway bridge on the main road (A320). They were heading towards Guildford, I managed a wave, but I don't think they saw me, or more likely they just ignored me!
Doing the same thing myself at the moment - Confused, Go Compare etc are rubbish for me, about £200 more than if I go to the company direct for an online quote! Best for me so far is Privilege at £543.90...
I've filled in the quote form for Greenlight who I really want to go with as I'm...
Cool, did an easytrack day at Bedford last year and it seemed well organised and the tuition was great. Bought the pics myself from that day, it's always good to have a souvenir...
I'm gonna have a look and see what's available at Cadwell in a month or so!
How cool was that Skyline near the start spitting flames!
Bit sketchy with the mk 1 Golf though, should just let people like that past asap and get back on it.
Cadwell looks like a real challenge, might look at booking an off season trackday there in a month or so...
Gutted can't access it either! Looks like a great find though Ollie, I've always heard that getting hold of replacement dampers from Renault dealers over here can be impossible...would be interesting to know you could just order them from France, probably be a bit cheaper to boot!
Excellent photos, did you have someone there to take the pics or are they by the Renaultsport photographers?
How did you find the circuit? I must make it up to Cadwell one day, it's just the travel and overnight accomodation make it quite expensive for a UK trackday...
I was going to send the owner a pm about a spotting and photo that I took recently, but I wanted to check with him that it was alright for me to do so! Did not get chance to speak to him at the time, and there's a good story that goes with the photo which he might like!
Of course I do!
But after my trip to the 'Ring on the weekend, I'm thinking of putting my modifying powers on another car and keeping the Trophy standard and for road use only
Apologies, but I am going to pull out of this group buy, decided that modding the Trophy is not the way to go for me, I think it's pretty much perfect as it is and I don't want to spoil that! :D
Just waiting on the completion of my house sale, which hopefully will be in the next fortnight...figure now I am single and I don't have to save for a wedding etc, it's time to treat myself, and the Trophy!
Thanks for looking into this, I'm off to the 'Ring for the weekend, but I'll check...
Whatever the noise is, it sure ain't normal. Get it checked out and fixed, everything should be under warranty so it's not all bad...
So glad the electrical fault turned out to be the battery terminal, this thread was giving me the fear!
Good luck with the whining noise, keep us posted...
As Faze has said, there is nothing different between the FF tyres and Trophy tyres...
Just ask for Michelin Pilot Exalto 2's, 205/45 on a 16 inch wheel, with a V speed rating (up to 149mph), the W speed rated tyres will cost you between £5 and £10 more per tyre!
Two trackdays and 12k of fast road driving and I was through a set of front brake pads (rears are still only half worn) and a set of PE2's, although the tyres did 6k on the front, and 6k on the rears...
As Cue says, it's all dependent on how the car has been driven, if driven with a fair...
My geometry was all over the place from the factory, so for me and my Trophy it was certainly worthwhile, it has made the car feel a lot straighter if that makes any sense! Whilst it does now have even more of a tendency to follow road cambers, I find it more stable under braking and easier to...
