It can't help that they're pretty much all three years old and out of manufacturers warranty. I found I had to look to get mine 14 months ago as the dealers were shifting them so quickly, now I seem to find loads for sale. Luckily for me I'll be keeping the car a while so prices are largely...
I wish my would hurry up and break some I can get one. You seem stuck between the same choices as me, I kepy swaying towards the yozzasport though, I've never heard bad words about the quality of it.
I've only ever bought 2nd hand cars and I can't see that changing next time around, which means my next car needs to be out now. I can't think of many current cars that I'd be happy replacing the trophy with. I like Lotus Elise's but I do need a tiny bit of practicality and they don't really...
I've thought about looking to get the whole wheel done in alcantara. Mine is beginning to worry me, it's getting a slight sticky feel and my palm prints appear to be melting into the wheel, I suppose that's a useful identifying feature if it ever gets stolen.
As for extended warranties, I saw one that's done by elephant and someone else that advertised covering premature failure of parts such as belts, including the cost of all the bits taken out by it.
Is there anything about changing the belt that makes it need to be done by a specialist or main...
There's quite a big thread on RS forum about some who's belt went at 4 years, but a long way off 36k, took the cambelt with it which in turn inflicted the usual cambelt damage to the engine. Reading that makes it seem worthwhile to change at 3 years. The £300 that Renault want to charge...
Mine's been done too, along with ABS sensor. I don't think Renault invested a lot into their sensors. If it does go out of warrantyit may be worth questionning the garage whether they can get RUK to foot the bill. My dad's had 2 electric window regulators done out of warranty on a scenic...
Trophy would be a nightmare car for a driving test I'd imagine. Like duffer says the clutch is very stiff, with a shaking foot from nerves that's just asking for the car to be stalled. I couldn't imagine the examiners around me appreciating the rough ride either, it would be worth 2 extra...
Delay the wedding ?
To me an unmodified car is definately more appealing, especially on a ltd ed car like the trophy. When I've been looking in the past I've been put off by modified cars in casse they've been bedly fitted, it can always make them seem like they've been owned by a boy racer...
I've just had the ABS sensor changed out of warranty. It had been investigated 6 days before the warranty expired but not fixed so I took it back. There was no problem from Renault at all, I was even given the choice of having Renault pay the full price and not having a warranty on the part or...
I've had my ecu bracket done too. As for bonnet catch it wasn't done 12 months ago when I had the car, or 9-10 months ago when I had the alarm sorted. But every time in the last three months I've been in it's been down on the job card for it to be checked and has now been changed.
I've not done it but it's something I thought of doing if I could do it cheaply enough. Either that or take them out completely seen as they're folded flat half the time anyway.
That's a bargain. I need to start phoning round for aux belt prices and try and find myself a nice local specialist instead of main dealers. My warranty finishes on Monday so I don't see the point in lining dealers pockets now just to keep them on my side.
My finger did hover over the submit button when typing it, not wanting to be the first shot down in flames. For some reason the police aren't always that popular on car forums.
I'd book it into Renault. I took mine in and they sorted it within 2 hours all under warranty. It was O2 sensor for me too. It seems to be a common fault on then. I'm sure before I change the car I'll have to change the sensor again.
Police Officer. But before anyone hates me I've never given a speeding ticket out and at the moment I'm on a vehicle crime unit attempting to put scrotey car theives behind bars.
I'm glad I'm not the only one going through them quickly. Looking at mine I have too much fun on roundabouts, the offside has an extra 1-2mm of tread over the ns. And I hope by saying 1mm limit you mean 1.6mm ?
Mine is nearley always on, for the reasons people have said already, it just doesn't interfere with driving on a road, and if it does maybe the speeds / driving manner are innapropriate for the road anyway. I've not driven the trophy on a track and may consider turning it off on one when I do...
