Possibly, however the vibration that occurs when the engine revs are built up and drop back down leads me to think its a miss fire does this sound possible ?
Just an update on the problem guys,
Lack of power is becoming increasingly worse and small amounts of shaking/vibration is coming from the engine when I'm parked and slowly increase the revs from idle up to 3500 rpm and then back to idle. This leads to me the conclusion that my car has a slight...
No however when i cleaned the fuses under the bonnet as well as the coil pack HT lead caps that push into the coil pack and the pins on the top of the throttle peddle it went like a rocket then the next day the problem came back, very confusing, also the idle is still very lumpy I'm gonna get...
Looking at replacing my standard air-box. Everyone seems to say ITG maxogen kit is the best but its nearly £400 so I was thinking would it be better to pay the extra and get the JMS inlet manifold ??
Or ... do I just keep the standard air-box as the above two will not produce that much of a...
Heard this is a very common problem on the old Clio's. Just wondering how will i know if I have a faulty coil pack ?? It was removed during the major service and it was from this point my Trophys idle became bad and i have an intermittent slight lack of power.
Cheers
Mens insurance is going to be balanced with women's at the end of next year so us guys will all see a substantial drop in premiums still a long way off though :(
With regards to your insurance going up, insurance quotes fluctuate every day and some-days can be a lot lower than another!

This was just with the ignition on. I did not look when the car was running but i will check it on the weekend very very loud though aha. With regards to your pedal and the pop this is a switch that turns off your speed limiter or cruise control. The crankshaft sensor was pritty black so i...
Spent a couple of hours on the trophy this weekend, Cleaned the crankshaft sensor with brake cleaner till it was gleaming and cleaned its contacts with contact cleaner. Also took the throttle body off and cleaned the butterfly valve, had a bit of black around it. One thing i noticed when the...
I have had 4 Renault clio's 2 of which have been trophys. I have never had a problem with any of the 4,
However having slight ploblems with the current trophy as many you of may be aware with the "standard air box query" posts and lack in power posts.
My current trophy has no engine...
Another pain with the 200 is the rear air diffuser, when fairly new the 200 spits microscopic bits of red hot swarf out of the exhausts which then stick to the glossy black air diffuser making small melt marks :(
I've got WD40 (who doesn't!) however i dont mind buying some brake cleaner if it would be better to use.
Also Liam I still have the standard exhaust fitted yes and its quality I would say is good. I covered the tail pipes the other day whilst running to check for a blow in the exhaust and it was...
Thanks again Liam for all your help. When cleaning the throttle body im guessing there will be a butterfly type valve inside controlled by electronic components. What should i clean and what should i be cleaning it with ? brake cleaner ?
Also im just about to order a samco silicon intake hose...
Thats a lot for that liam. I will be checking all the intakes this weekend however it has just been replaced with a brand new air filter with the major service. With regards to the crankshaft sensor im not to sure where it is located and how i go about removing it. Also is the throttle electric...
OK, cheers for that. When the bonnet is open the buzzing noise is fairly loud and if i press on the black part of the throttle body it changes note. Dunno if this is correct try it with yours and see if it does that same.
Thanks
Rob
Good idea i think i shall do that first.
I took it to them about 3 weeks ago and told them that it did not feel right and that the idle had become more lumpy. They said they will take a look and ran exhaust emissions tests to see if it was running too rich, when i went back later that day they...
Yes, the mechanic i spoke to said about the fly by wire on my model Clio and said that the contacts behind the peddle maybe doggy so ill give these a check. The mechanic also said that thee throttle body should not be making a noise when ignition is on however people on here are saying there's...
Yeah it came from around this time. I thought that you can get matched inlets and see gains of up to 10 bhp. If this is correct surely if the sealant is protruding even just slightly it will make a difference. I ask the garage about the timing and they said they stick probe things into the side...
Bollocks !! Was a little annoying when they showed me what they had done. Was not experiencing any high idle or leaks whatsoever. Is it possible that the sealant could be protruding on the inside of the inlet manifold and cause a lack in power ? If so i will clear it on the weekend along with...
Just another thought ... the garage that did my major service i asked them if they could reseal the rocker cover as it was leaking. They sealed the rocker cover with Renault sealant and with the remaining sealant sealed the inlet manifold. If the sealant around the inlet manifold seeped out a...
