Matt, you're the only person I know of that didn't cut the OE exhaust in half, it seemed a bit extreme to drop the rear axle out but you've now got an exhaust in one piece to put back for things like this. Good job.
Good luck with it, I don't think Renault would not cough up for a cylinder...
Got mine today, fitted it. I have to say not overly impressed with the finish of the thing, I'm glad I didn't pay full whack for it! It's a very simple, crude little device really. How much is a racing harness anyhow?!
Will try and pull 0.9 lateral G on the way to work tomorrow if I can and...
If it could brake later, carry more speed through the corners and accelerate quicker out of them, where were you gaining it back Cue?!!
Believe me I'm on your side, I would love the Trophy to be quicker than what EVO think could be the fastest hot hatch EVER made, ie. quicker than the...
Sorry Cue I thought this was a dead thread. I'm driving quite near to the factory (which is just north of Paris) in three weeks but I'm looking for a house right now and the missus won't be too happy about me blowing £700 on an exhaust when she's stumping up all of the deposit.
ducks - The...
All I can compare are PE2's and worn PE2's. So all I can say is the Trophy is utterly dependent on decent grip, after the fronts got near the indicators the handling was a joke, especially in the wet. If you've still not driven your Trophy with new PE2's I suggest you go out and get some pronto...
No, if they're down to the wear indicators then they're illegal, this is what the markers are for,
Get PE2's, shop around, you will get them for less than £100 each, CostCo i've heard are the cheapest, £80 each?
I'm a great believer in sticking with the tyres the chassis was designed...
Are they exempt from the horrendous 'smog fitting', my friend has a lovely E30 325is in San Diego and he ripped all the vacuum tubes off because they killed about 70bhp (in a 170bhp car).
Get a 205 1.9 GTI, K reg, 1992 with PAS, ABS and pref. Miami Blue, mint one for £4K, it would be...
Moisture in the Distributor cap is a very common cause of a misfire, but it wouldn't affect one cylinder, it may well one of the HV leads but this is unlikely to be moisture related. Why don't you label up the suspected one, swap them over and see if it misfires on a another cylinder.
EVO classed the DC2 as a coupe, but you could argue its a hatchback, it's got a more useful boot than ours, and it's a front-driver which is why it gave us a pasting in the 'best FWD car ever' group test. I would never compare the DC5 with an STI or EVO, not a saloon for a start and...
Ouch! Must have killed you seeing someone drive that away! Stunning car (Auction level 5 I see), personally I wouldn't have changed the gear knob and would have kept the wheels white but I love the Spoon mods and even the CF bonnet looks good on that car. I hadn't seen a blue interior before...
My GF just thinks I'm a bit odd but I like the increased road noise, you can hear what the tyres are doing! When I'm on my own in the car it definitely feels a smidgen more nimble, gives the whole car a rawer feel. I helped my work colleage move at the weekend and got a shit load of stuff in the...
Car Audio Installations was the eBay seller, they have an eBay shop. £21 inc. P&P, cheaper than anywhere else I saw, www.speeding.co.uk were charging £26 I think. I'm still undecided whether I'm going to fit it or not, if I don't I will sell it to you for £20.
Matt, well done for...
Thanks, I have decided the new JDM Civic is not for me, as much as I recognise it is an outstanding car for the money, very little competition really. I would much rather have the lighter 2-door Teg (personally I prefer the pre-facelifted version, were there any mechanical changes?) for less...
Very pleased to hear that Trophychick, ask Renault to have a spare key made and give you a cheque for the new front SPLITTER. Then buy a carbon fibre one from K-Tec, which is much nicer and half the money. Then spend the change on ordering a tonne of Horse Manure for the offending Renault...
Erm, interesting, well mine is in the post now, I too would have preferred a perfectly spherical one, but try finding one with the gear config. properly etched into it, Richbrook do a few but only with a horrible enamel sticker that sits on top, definitely not a fan of those. Ideally I would...
KPOR'd?
Thanks SpaceMonkey, didn't mean to quiz you on it too much, you'll be a useful guy to know if I do decide to get one. There are a few on the itr website for sale for around the £10K mark, apparently the values are plummeting because the market is being flooded with them, a good...
Noble would be good, I love those things.
Did anyone read the Audi R8 group test in EVO yet? I won't spoil it suffice to say it's the dawning of a new era! That thing is quicker than a Koeniggsegg CCX around the track and £78K, a performance bargain.
You didn't need to explain yourself though! Lots of people have put leather s/f/r seats in, and why not? As one of the Olly's said once, he doesn't take rear passengers because of the lack of headrests, it is a very real concern, a bit like when the seatbelt law didn't include people in the back...
...and you're really not helping either SpaceMonkey! So are you telling me the only reason you changed to a 182 was the insurance costs? Or did you fancy a change too?
Aah, but have you a Trophy? Light-years ahead of mere mortal 182's you see.
No, seriously, your conversion speaks volumes though, the 182 is almost as fast (some would say a better driver's car and more fun) but a fraction of the cost to run, one plus point of 182 over Teg...
If the colour of a car is more important than owning the best hot hatch ever made then get a Full Fat!
Obviously, we're all going to tell you to get a Trophy, we all made the decision to get one over a FF (or any other hot hatch/car of a similar price). If you need any more specific...
What's the point, if you wanted that much grunt through the front wheels you may as well buy the Mazda MPS, a tried and tested 256bhp and the same weight as the Clio 197! I'm glad Renault stuck with N/A, just not glad they made it so big and heavy. Making way for the Twingo, it's so obvious now...
It's no wonder you have the most modified Trophy Matt, it must feel dead slow after an AC Schnitzer E36 M3! That would be a very handy 'Ring tool. I loved it when Bovington from EVO was building his E36 8:00 minute track car, on such a tight budget too!
I quite like the interior, a classier affair than the Clio, but that's not difficult. It's no Audi in there though but then it's a relatively cheap car. The JDM Civic is £12,000 FFS! (Costs a bit more after import duty, etc.)
Everybody everywhere (well, me) knows the Trophy is good for a 1:32 something. The fact it's slower than the Cup in the back of Evo is a travesty and a Lie.
I was a bit harsh about the ST, it's not that bad. Would rather have an R26 though if I had to have a lard arse hatchback. Much...
