You could buy a whole mint example, that should sort you for most parts!
The boat has sailed on most of the Trophy specific parts but what makes it a difficult question to answer is that a lot of the bits you would expect to continue have also disappeared.
I think it must have been a Renault...
Its tempting isn’t it. Having said that the price is being driven by just two bidders, without stating the obvious that is what an auction is all about but having said that there is no guarantee a similar car will attract the same bun fight.
My feeing is that there will be others along, nicer...
Weren’t Trendlines also fitted in one of the Honda Type R? If those cables are a Renault part might they also be a Honda part? That might be an avenue to investigate.
There seem to be a few options that will give similar performance to the Sachs, refurbishment is not a cost effective option. Cheapest, just go for the Clio Cup dampers from RPD, very close to the Sachs. Next best would be the Koni, these are adjustable to a certain extent or if you need a...
:) I can’t speak for him but I suspect that is price is a little rich, it’s going to need some money spent on it and you can bet your life that having stood that long the first enthusiastic drive will end with the Sachs giving up the ghost!
Wow a thread from before even my time :) I think the information above is a little misleading as it was my impression there was not an exact match in powder coat????
Has This changed anyone?
Yep the plastic is quite flexible and they just use buttons that are located into holes on the part it is attached to, push the button through the hole and it can be released. I just can’t remember how that tube is attached to the valve.
I’m fairly certain they cannot be refurbished and they are no longer available from Renault so unfortunately you are going to have to fork out a few quid (they were never cheap) It is a well known problem and there are threads on here that mention it if you search. I’ll see if I can find one.
It’s a long time since I did it but your best bet is to go in through the the wheel arch, remove the liners and then you should be able to get at the lower pipe and acoustic valve assembly.
Just visited all the examples listed for sale recently and most don‘t seem to have been moved on as yet. That includes the one on Collecting Cars which has not even moved on from “Pending”! Lots of people on the FB page wanting them but unwilling to lay down the cash?
Probably asking in the wrong place because all of us are going to reply that they are an absolute hoot. Whether they are worth in financially is a different matter. £9k should get you a nice one and it will probably pay for itself but only if you don’t plan on putting too miles on it and will it...
The presentation for sale compares really badly to the example Tom is selling. Obviously much lower mileage than 53, similar prices(ish) but the attention to detail is light years apart.
