While at the BP garage in Spain today

That a pretty little car isn’t it? Early though not a phase 1 as it has a rear spoiler and the trim above the rear lights is colour coded as per ph2 so probably literally a ph 1.5 Ew, look at me, a 5 nerd. Ffs

    Trophy Sales on Collecting Cars

I mentioned and then deleted, that I thought the photos were a little low res, but is that a really bad scratch on the bumper just in front of the front (drivers side) wheel of just a reflection?

    Trophy Sales on Collecting Cars

Yeah, it would have been nice as I think the engine bay had some attention to get it looking acceptable. As Ed says, I don’t think it was hiding too much, jacking points were all very tidy.

    Trophy Sales on Collecting Cars

I thought that £18.5 would have been a good price, for the buyer! My guess is that They must have been expecting closer to £25k Really nice example but not perfect. Are we allowed to pick holes now? 🙂

I guess I ought to add this here in an effort to rejuvenate this post. (An old photo that I have posted before)

Nick, not sure those two experiences should share the same paragraph. Gti micra, yeah nope doesn’t work. Your insurance must have been mental. Ed, it really was simpler and scarier and an absolute hoot driving those crisp packets back then. No rose tinted specs needed..

An ex girlfriends twin sister had a 1.6 gti that went the way of many others, literally backwards through a hedge at high speed.

Barn Find 31k Trophy on eBay

Yep it’s been stored in a pretty damp garage of some description. Having said that, all the rust appears to be on the bolt ons and they can all be unbolted and sorted. Forget about the exhaust we all know that is just poor. it would be interesting to see other pictures as the one view of a...

    SACHS DAMPERS REBUILDS

Seems an okay price, dependant on condition of course. As Ed says, unless you have a receipt for recent work be wary about slapping them straight onto the car. Chances are they will fine but they may also fail quite suddenly. That is however, Trophy life.

    SACHS DAMPERS REBUILDS

    SACHS DAMPERS REBUILDS

Finding a spare set of Sachs these days will almost be a matter of luck. Your best bet is to buy a pair of cup dampers to fit whist the Sachs are off, someone is actually more likely to have these and want to sell. You can then move them on after. You can pick these up from Renault parts direct...

    The dreaded heater panel problem.

No, but I’m pretty sure the number in in the “parts numbers” thread 6025306011 is what I have. EBay brings up this (it’s been on there years)...

    The dreaded heater panel problem.

Oh yeah, mine is far from perfect and has plenty of “optional” stuff on it. It’s just things like the above, the washer blanks, exhaust surrounds etc etc. If the car doesn’t have these or has poor copies fitted it just looks wrong. And btw the way, the guys on the oe Renault 5 GTT FB page are...

    The dreaded heater panel problem.

Umm, not sure. Looks like the replacement. It‘s a bit pathetic really isn’t it….. Yes that is the number of the replacement. So that is the version at the bottom of my original pic. The original taken off my car is the top one, it has a section like above. It has a bump at the bottom which is...

    The dreaded heater panel problem.

Just to clarify here and I am quite happy to accept the charge of nitpicking, but the version recommended as a replacement is okay but it IS different. The two moulded lugs on the back for a start, you have to cut these off. The font is very slightly different and on the original there is a...

    The dreaded heater panel problem.

Interesting. So what do you think it actually is? I guess I always thought it was painted but never gave it much time. As discussed at £70 for a good one, you would think costs should be covered.
