My Trophy has barely moved in the last few years, it’s a hefty price for the mileage. My M2 is less than half the cost. I barely use that either, I wish they priced it based on mileage or an actual emission figure. Both cars probably produce less CO2 than an electric car, if you consider how...
Aye, I fully agree. I’ve done a couple of track days in the Trophy and I had a brilliant time but nothing beats tackling a good B Road where it definitely feels more alive. Each to their own though and I bet the owner had a lot of enjoyment driving that around a circuit.
Good to know Marc and thanks for the info. I always thought that the spare set I have would need servicing before fitting to the car, due to being inactive for long periods, I doubt even cycling them frequently would keep them in top condition. For that you need to remove the adjusting pin and...
Fair enough, I’m glad you got it sorted and fair play to hoolio for helping out. I’m sure there are some other examples of internal component failure that haven’t been mentioned but it’s not something I’ve come across reading the forum, hopefully it was (and remains to be) a rare case.
It would be tricky to make any of these components but I can’t see why they would fail. I’m not sure what’s inside the main shaft assembly but I presume it’s just the shaft and some seals?
I haven’t heard of anyone having any internal component replaced other than the shafts, which seem to commonly suffer from scoring. I have a set of dampers which have DLC coated shafts that Rik Perry manufactured, so they’re able to be replicated by anyone with a decent lathe and skills to do...
How does the underbody of the car look currently?
I did a fair amount of work tidying up various components to mine a few years ago but none of it included work on the actual body of the car, mainly because there was nothing wrong with it, there was a small amount of rust starting to show at...
Sorry to hear that. Do they offer any warranty on the work carried out? My main set have failed recently so I need to get them sent off for repair. I have the DLC shafts on them that Rik Perry had made and I’d be surprised if BG Motorsports would be happy to refit those shafts and offer any...
Very nice. My friend had a MK1 Golf that kept the Trophy company for a while. It wasn’t practical for him to keep at the time, unfortunately. Nothing like the one mentioned but it reminds me of the time. Lovely car.
