Hi All,

Been a long time since i was last in and need a bit of help.

I want to get my wheels touched up - they are not bad enough for a complete refurb (wheeks off) i dont think. Can people reccommend a mobile person/company in the essex area that can do i good job?

Cheers
David.

£70 per wheel at wicked wheels. I'm shocked and would have to be mentally insane to pay that.

find a powder coater - should be around £50/£60 per wheel and the finish will be pristine.

Only trouble you'll have is regarding the paint code - a search will tell you what it is (is on here somewhere) but is neh on impossible to buy it in small quantities so can't be got - there are some close matches though through the audi paints i believe, even a rover one.

lol, that's laughable for just a touch up then.... when i saw the price i assumed it for a complete repaint.

As I said though just a touch with the correct paint will be very very difficult - but you can get close to the anthracite colour with some other mft's codes.

When i worked in a car spares shop, for stuff we couldnt find a code for, we used to send the petrol cap or mirror etc to AM Panels in Leyton, and they used to computer match it, not sure they'd be able to do it on something the size of a wheel, but worth an ask. They used to do either an aerosol can, 'actual' paint, or touch in pens. So worth an ask!

Just been to http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/Fil ... etails.php for a quote and I gave them he IXELL 205 - 110 paint code. Now the chap there said we can't use that code as its a water based paint as we use a powder coating system. You will need a RAL code...

So I went over to JTB Supplies :) http://www.jtbsupplies.co.uk/ and the chap there got his swatches out and got as close a match as he could that TheWheelSpecialist could use....

My concern is that the colour won't be indentical to what it is now, not good for a limited edition car....

Anyone recommend a wheel refurber in the NW that uses Ixell paint? :?:

I live just outside Manchester and when I needed a wheel touch up when I had my Trophy (and then again on the Megane) Chips Away came out to the house and successfully matched the Ixell paint code. £55 a wheel I think it was...

TheWheelSpecialst don't do touch ups as (he said) they end up flaking in some cases, hence the full refrub...

Not sure what to do, only 1 alloy needs some kerbing repairing and the other 3 have a couple of chips and scratches here and there.

Wicked Wheels reckoned they could not match the Ixell paint code and the only way to guarantee a match was to repaint all 4 wheels in a different shade of grey.

Chips Away matched the colour - I had the Megane done in August and so far no signs of peeling or flaking :D

If it was me, I would either leave it as it is or buy a new wheel. They only cost just over £100 I believe. I still have a 172 cup wheel and tyre in my garden that needs refurbishing or disposed of. Not worth it though as I wont get the money back if I sold it, so there it stays. Keeps the garden bench cover on nicely in the winter.

Well I was considering the possiblilty of buying 4 new wheels and keeping the other set for trackdays. Where's the best place to get new trophy speedline turinis from?

Renault I reckon. I got a 172 cup wheel from a dealer for about £115 once, I think T ones are £130-£140 ish. Might want 15s for the track though.
