can someone please shed some light on this:

I got a letter from renault saying "call us for a service" so i did, told them it's done 9000 miles and it was checked out 3 months ago for the non start problem, all is well. they said wait till it's done 12000 miles and book a service.

same night i'm driving the Trophy and get a call on the mobile "hi i'm from renault, do you want to book a service?" i gave them the story above but they say wait till 18000 / 2 years as thats the standard clio checkup, I kindly remind them it's a Renaulsport 182 Trophy and of more quality than the standard mince-mobile but they still stuck to ther guns and say 18000 miles.

so whats the score? do i wait for the mileage to increase or get them told and book it in pronto???

I change my oil every 6000 miles (done by Renault; not myself).

You should change every at every 12,000 miles as a minimum.

12K is the standard interval for an oil change in any road car (and the recommended 182 interval) but it's not really adequate for a performance car, especially if it's driven hard or on frequent short trips. I changed mine at 7000 miles and will again at 14000, just to be different  , but people tend to change the oil themselves at 6000 because it is halfway between the oil changes done at service time.

When i picked mine up the dealer advised to change oil at 4000m (to clear out all the rubbish of a new engine) and thereafter on 12k 24k etc. but think steve and others are right; every 12 for stamp and the middle 6 my oi .lchange
