Right here you go, took about ten minutes. The main picture still has the pin in place and the ball bearings sit on top of the two little springs you can see.

On my old dials the hole for the pin was drilled too far towards the centre so the dial would not turn a full 360 degrees, the ball bearings were getting stuck in the hole !

Well finally got them both un pinned.
One of them was relatively easy as I just drilled the grub screw out, praised the wheel off, re tapped the thread and knocked the pin up untill it cleared the dimples in the underside of the wheel.

The other was a nightmare as I foolishly snapped an allan key in it whilst trying to undo it,this then made drilling the grub screw and allan key difficult to say the least!Managed to do it eventually by drilling them out with a larger drill tip made for drilling stainless steel, then had to drill a new hole to fit the grub screw.

Motto of this dont use cheap allan keys as these snap easily especially as those that have not been un pinned will be very difficult to just unscrew. Also everyone seems to suggest that a 2mm allan key fits but I found that a 2mm was just on the small side and 2.5mm doesnt fit and they are not imperial.
You would also benifit from using a pedestal drill and vice rather than a hand drill on the floor.
Also the pins are hardened steel so drilling them would be very difficult without specialist drills.

Now just need some time to have a try with different settings :)

Also trying to get some replacement adjusters is probably a good idea before you try as this will stop the sweaty palms as you drill into the grub screws

I had a similar issue with my grub screws! Off side came out like a dream (the first one) the nearside, my allan key rounded off the grub screw and hence i haven't got any further! I have bought a screw extractor, but because the screw is at the back side of the arch I haven't done it yet! I am also scared of messing up the adjusted and then having that to sort out! Any ideas without taking the shock off?

Best to take the shock off only 3 bolts and 30 min job and will make it far easier.
Carefull you dont break the stud extractor otherwise it will be very hard to drill it out.

Hey Hoolio
please could you do me a walk through I'm really confused as to what I need to do! What I have got for reading so far is that I need to remove a grub. And then take a pin out but still not too sure what that's means! Lol sorry I'm really new at all this!

Cheers Tony

BG motorsport can supply them. If you are abroad they will probably send them to you no probs i would have thought.

Rentech set my dampers to 20 the other day and it has made a hell of a difference! Much better in the wet. Not as sharp and nowhere near as good under braking in the dry though. I'm turning them back up to 26 when i've done the steering column and new front tyres

Ah yes, I was wondering which thread it was where we were discussing this !

Ive found that anything below 20 and the car feels too soft, less sharp, too much roll, not enough chassis response and overall not good :)
I have mine set at the standard 22 clicks and have found for general driving this is perfect and boy does it handle well on the back roads !

Indeed 20 does feel soft, it does give a marked improvement in the wet though, and rides so much nicer!

I have retired the trophy to the garage now and will be making it mint, plus doing some nice mods gradually, so i can turn the dampers up and not worry about ride 8)

Hello again!

Since I had the dampers unpinned last year I have set the dampers 2 clicks harder and the car seems to almost follow every nook and cranny in the roads! Can you remind me what the standard number of clicks are when set to 'factory settings' as think I need to lower it for daily commuting!

Thank you!
