Almost 2 months without a Trophy on CC! Makes a nice change from one every two week we were getting towards the end of last year.

Well, I've had mine on Ebay for a couple of months now with loads of time wasters (as usual); one looker who then decided he wanted a 986 Boxster S instead (fair enough) but no sale so you might be seeing another one on Collecting Cars sometime next month or early June if I don't manage to sell it beforehand. I know it's my car but it seriously is mint. The guy who came said it was the best example he'd seen and he had looked at a several over the last few months so I think it is just a case of getting someone to just physically see the car and if they were serious about wanting a Trophy, they would buy it. Fingers crossed🤞

I think Collecting Cars has ran its time, at first a novelty site promoting ‘exclusive’ cars, but from what I have seen the standard has progressively slipped to allow anything that is there, or their abouts, that pays the fees. Why pay the commission when you could negotiate a strong private deal. For the Private seller, back your car and put it on at the money you want on A.Trader, FB or eBay, is what I say!😉👍

Yeah I sort of get the feeling CC has lost a bit of its lustre this last while alright.

It seems it has become a very competitive market place, between the more traditional
auction companies/houses and I've also seen another new venture called CarHuna that is
about to launch now soon as well.
I believe there are some pretty big and well known names in the car dealership world behind it,
DK Engineering being one of them.

I guess all you can say is that having a lot of options and variety is only going to be good
for the consumer and the person selling their car now.

I did buy #309 but by autotrader and paid £9.5k…probably a bit over the value but was smitten at first test drive 😂

Looked a decent buy at that price!

If we consider the cars sold previously on CC of a similar mileage in recent times they're all in a similar ballpark. I find that the market for Trophy's (and other modern 'collector cars' for that matter) to still be highly influenced by the numbers on the odometer, rather than on condition etc.

Agree with you there photo_ed.

It might be an opportunity to pick up a really nice, but higher mileage example at a more decent price.

Rather than going head to head with buyers who are mostly concerned with the lower mileage stuff.

I think the problem with Collecting Cars circles around the reserve. If the reserve was disclosed during the auction people would know what they are bidding towards, or if they are 000’s short. Also CC get on to the seller as the auction draws to an end to ‘encourage’ you to lower or remove the reserve (presumably as they make no commission with no sale). Then in a lot of cases the bidding falls short, which I think is what happened with the last Trophy. I would have been disappointed with that result of £11200 if it was mine for the standard of the car (less £150 for the photographs, which the seller also pays). I would have thought a well written private advert would have attracted the right buyer for more ££, bearing in mind you still have to meet the buyer and arrange the transaction yourself anyway, using the CC model.

Well put and very true - I've had some experiance of trying to purchase / sell car's on there and CC's are only interested in selling cars for there commission, which is understandable to keep the cogs turning but not always in the customers best interest.

I did think the T this week would maybe have run on a little more ???

Apart from CC,is there many other places that would be good or better to use?

Like TheMarket by Bonhams or similar?

Since CC seems to have become the default site now, people selling probably think it's the best option as it probably gets the most traffic from potential buyers...or not maybe?
