43? Isn't that the answer to life according to deep thought in hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy?

or am I showing my age there? 8)

Cue, are you suggesting that being more than mid 30ies is something less than best? :)

I bought 474 just after my 21st birthday, 14 months on of ownership and a year older, i'm still madly in love with her. previos cars 1.6 escort, 1.2 dynamique - which is where the love for clio's came from, and i now have a little run a round in the form of a toyota starlet- keep the miles of 474.

Now I am an ex-Trophy owner (Cue what to do about the stars?) I will admit to having received my winter fuel allowance before the Trophy arrived. More amusingly I received my first competition licence on the same day as the invitation to apply for a train pass!

I claim that you are young as you feel, and that working with younger bright people keeps the grey cells active.

At the last Wiscombe hill climb there was a special class to celebrate its 50th anniversary (no I was not there at the beginning!) and a chap of 86 put up a very respectable time in a genuine AC Cobra, so just think how many years of motoring enjoyment most of you can look forward to, speed limits and CO regulations permitting.

Sorry about defecting to the DC5 - too early to tell if it is a good idea - ony just replaced the o.e tyres which had gone completely solid and were utterly gripless. As a consolation there is no doubt that the Trophy is much more user friendly.

didn't realise you've finally made the move to a DC5 George, hope it works out (secretly hoping that you regret it of course ;))

Cue, Only time (or rather my times) will tell if I have done the right thing - there does seem to be much more scope to get a reasonable power increase from the Honda engine. There are lots of after market bits, mainly Japanese in orgin, very expensive, suspension coil overs are ridiculously stiff (useless in the wet) and all the exhausts are very noisy. Even the standard system recorded 95 db compared with the Trophy's 88db. Surprisingly the system diameter is 54 mm compared with 60 plus for the Trophy. A few nice things are that it has a Limited Slip Diff (gear type) - needs a different driving style, four pot Brembos on the front and also it is easy to adjust the rear geometry.

Oh and I managed to find one that is not white with a shocking red interioi!!

But this is still the nicest forum!!

29 (just! - seem to be a lot of us born in August?), had the trophy for 1.5 yrs. and really enjoy it

Prev cars were Escort 1.8 (at 21 it was a beast!) Saxo VTS - still miss it and a E46 M3... miss that one more... but love the trophy and don't feel like checking the street every 2 mins to see if someone's broken into it :D

Dunno how those that are 20 odd afford the insurance, must be really expensive?

Im 27 now and my car history is pretty weak in terms of numbers. 1st car was an citreon ax 1.1(so light), then 16valver clio as can be seen in my avatar and then the trophy. Loved the valver but always wanted the williams, so decided the trophy was a must this time around :D
