Bit more tricky than that ,the 9995 is an "offer" to sell at that price, i think they can withdraw even if they have taken a deposit.

I am the Richard from London who has bought this car. The garage informed me of this website and my immediate thoughts were that something might be wrong with the car. G40steve how did you know that it was me that was buying the car as the garage said they did not tell anyone?

What did the garage say about the site?

What made you immediately think there might be something wrong with the car? As far as i'm aware its a car thats not on the owners register here so no-one actually knows the car or anything about it.

It was discussed on here because the dealers seem to have under priced it - buying it blind is always a risk as i believe you have done but if its not up to scratch then i believe you are within your right to walk away - on the flipside if its mint then you've just got the bargain of the month! (hopefully it'll be the latter)

I'd reckon the garage told Steve your name, from what i could tell they didnt know their arse from their elbow in the morning and only realised they had a hot commodity once the phonecalss started pouring in - they name dropped a few interested paerties names when i was on to them.

Nothing to worry about - hopefully it'll be a minter ;)

Don't worry Rich, I know what you're saying, you thought because of the price something might be wrong with it, well, it isn't , they just didn't know the market value of the car as it's not in the Glass's guide. If you buy the car for under £10K, then well done, you've got a steal.

Don't forget to register your Trophy in the Trophy Owners Register and buy a key ring from the online shop, if you want one.

We may think it was cheap, it may be the dealer is in real need of some positive cashflow and it was better than the trade bid. Although they didn't call me and I'm in the guide :) Nice grab Richard, you'll love the car and find it difficult to ever replace. Like my toy 106 Rallye haha.

i'd be intrested to know how G40steve got the info - it must have come from the dealers but why would they give out a name of who's buying it?

I think they advertised it cheaper than mkt value just because they didn't actually know the mkt value.

Richard, you've got a bargain - reg in the owners section and read some of the mod posts - especially about the wiper stalk, unless it's already been done

iirc g40steve called the garage to find out what number the car was and they told him it was already sold. seocnd guessing he quite possibly mentioned cliotrophy too the saleperson who then obviously started doing a bit of research

READ THIS LMAO:

from wayne cartight of All Electric: On behalf of a Tony - their Sales Manager

"it,s just a clio with some wheels on it we do check prices on regular basis cap ,glass,s etc,.9995 but what did we pay for it ????????L,O,L .SUGGEST YOU AND YOUR SILLY LITTLE FRIENDS GET A LIFE {TRY FISHING}HAVE A NICE DAY HA HA HA HA"

it's from an email i've only just got around to reading.

Makes you think about the commercial acumen this lot have that:

1, they only value cars on what they bought them at, not their true value - del boy syndrome I think it's called.

2, what sense to insult their potential customer base? I'm anal enough to buy a car dealer next door to them and sell whatever cars they have instock at a grand cheaper to drive them out of business for comment like that. Pillocks.

I know their reading this thread and i hope they see this.

would you sell a Van Gough for £200 if you'd bought it for £100? or would you sell it for it's market value........ erm car dealers (im not labeling Steve with this as he's the execption to the rule) seem incapable of understanding the word VALUE. it's not another word for cheap its about worth. idiots.

On behalf of all Clio Trophy owners; You are a synaptically sterile muppet who should know better than to insult a car forum, you will recieve no business from any of us, unless of course, as is most likely, you decide to sell a car for much less than it's worth because you have the fiscal sense of turnip.

I wonder what their dealer principle would think of such 'professional' correspondence to potential customers?

Loughborough but mainly on trackdays!
Hi, i found this car the night it came on autotrader.

I was on the lookout for a good example for someone

This car was local too me so i enquired about it, they had already took a deposit on it.

I asked about the number & they told me a guy called Richard had the deposit paid.

It' s there loss, could of been Barbados for two weeks but instead it's Butlins. :-#

The is scaring me a bit as I am borrowing to buy this car. The salesman thought that I was the author of all of these messages. Read into that what you will maybe I am just being paranoid. It is also taking 3 days to prepare the car, which seems strange to me. I don't suppose one of you guys that lives close by could possibly go and check the car out.

You've got nothing to be scared of Richard, you're getting the deal of the month without their intention because they think a limited edition of one of the best hot hatches ever made that happens to be one of the best driver's cars of recent years is "just a clio with some wheels on it", very rich from a Hyundai/Citroen specialist. Their loss is your gain, welcome to Trophy ownership.

You're a salesman in a dealership (and I'm not saying this guy is exactly flying the flag for professional salesmanship). Even if there's not a lot going on, eventually you're going to get a bit hacked off with loads of random people phoning about a car that's already sold, and who had no intention of buying it. I'm sure that the knowledge they may have made more money on it is tempered by the fact that they have sold it and the money will be in the bank for a non-franchise car. Dealers are under a lot of pressure to put money in the bank in December and also to sell cars. It's likely that they will sell 50% as many cars as a regular month on the same overheads. Yes, in a perfect world everything would buy and sell for a price to suit everyone, but in this case it suits them (quick turnover), and Richard has got a good buy. On that point, don't worry about a dealer saying it will be ready in three days (read valet and a cursory look over) that's often about as good as it gets!
