Hi
Just a quick question I bought my trophy last year and the clutch is as stiff as hell. Had a 172 a few years ago and don't recall the clutch being some stiff. Goes into gears perfect and pulls without slip. What could it be?

Don't want to fit a new clutch if will make little/no difference.

Cheers

Well mine has done 112k. Would a new clutch resolve the stiff operation?

Have you had yours long?

That's a fair point mate as it works fine so I'll take your good advice.

Mine's quite stiff now, I've done 72k. I believe the stiffness comes from the pressure plate/diaphragm and not so much the cable, although, this will also become less free over time. I think it's more than likely age related. Most people who have changed their clutch have reported a vast improvement.

I changed my clutch and clutch cable last year as it was extremely heavy.
The first time I went to press it I nearly stuck my foot through the floor! Well worth doing...

I got them through my work, both Renault oe both with a little discount.
Clutch kit was £107, cable was £47.86. I dont have a fitting cost as it was all done as part of having the engine out but it has been well worth doing .
