Even that waffy bit of tubing didn't stop the standard snapping for me!
But as Badgermanpirate said we made sure they were fitted correctly when my Trophy dropped its suspension guts one weekend. The difference in the standard front spring and the Sportline wasn't huge but mainly that rubber sleeve at the bottom on the standard must be there to stop some noise.
