What's the best way for removing spot welded flies and moths from the bumper and bonnet? Is there a product someone can recommend that loosens them up so i can get them off without scrubbing and risking putting surface marks on the paint.

I've never known how to get them off properly and just leave them on

Just leave a soap soaked microfibre over the top of them for a while. A good layer of wax beforehand should see them wash off without any problems.

Turtle wax - tar, tree sap and insect remover. Seems to do the job ok.
If that doesnt work just follow marrows advice :D

A lambs wool meguirs wash mitt has a nice back hand side to it that allows you to get them off.

The best bet for flies is prevention, a decent layer of wax will help prevent them bonding to the paint and etching in if you get them off quickly enough. Once they've made home on your bonnet I find snow foaming before washing the car helps loosen them, and if they're really stubborn Chemical Guys Strong Wash diluted and sprayed onto the bonnet / bumper makes them very soft and easy to wipe off.
