Want to keep the Trophy looking good.

Think my car's had permagaurd recently applied to it (only had the car a couple of weeks).

Anyone else had this done? How often do you need to do it?

Any other tips for keeping it tip top?

Thanks,

Karl.

Mine was permaguarded by the previuos owner and I have since had it topped up. I'm very pleased with it- it has to be renewed once per year but during that time, every clean brings it up really well, and with such ease. The only thing that I don't think is worthwhile is the window treatment - I'm sure that some off the shelf products would do just as good a job for a fraction of the cost. I also fully cleaned and polished my wheels last year because I wasn't convinced with the protection from brake dust/tar but otherwise highly recommended!

Where did you get your car Permagaurded? And how much did it cost?

Also do you get you car serviced at a Renault dealer or a specialist?

Thanks.

K. There's no need to do yours. It was Supagarded before Alex took it and also before you collected it. Maybe think about it in a years time? Specialist dealers are half the labour rate and makes no difference to warranty (use OE parts) or resell.

1. Permagard is not a polish, it's a polymer resin which locks into the paint to stop paint oxidisation and helps prevent UV damage, enrich the colour and create the glass like finish.

2 .Supaguard is NOT Permagard. - Permagard is only applied by qualified and rigorously vetted franchisee's - at the last count there was only 3 in the uk, london, and two on the outskirts of manchester... i think there maybe one more now though in brum.

Supaguard can be bought over the counter at most reno dealers and most dealers who do apply it have the same guy who takes the soapy bucket to the cars on a sat afternoon, apply it. Most of the bad stories surrounding SG are because it hasn't been applied correctly, it's not a polish - the people applying it do'nt realise this though.

3. Once you've had PG done, you just need a 12 month retouch to keep the warranty valid - it carries a life time paint warranty.

4. There is no set cost to the treatment, it depends on the age of the car, size, mileage, condition etc. The first application is normally upwards of £250 from memory, the 12 month top up being around half of that.

Plus it tends to have a loyal following ;)

Sooo, Supaguard is better than the usual polishes off the shelf? How much does supaguard cost?

I assume permaguard can be put on at any time but of course its best to be put on from new!

Steve, has my car been permaguarded or supaguarded!? Lol!

Cheers

any product is only as good as the person applying it. a normal off the shelf polish will last around 2-3 months on ave. a good polymer product, properly applied and maintained can last up to 12 months.

To give you an idea, I paid roughly £140 for interior/exterior treatment (2nd application) and I think my engine bay was done for free as a returning customer. So that was half price for the bodywork and full price for the interior - as I say, it's a rough cost.. It was around that mark.

I think my valeter is qualified to apply Supagard! It's another polymer coat along the lines of Permaguard and Diamond Brite amongst many others. Beware smoke and mirrors price wise. Half the people who have this done still polish their cars! I'd give it a year and then have the Permaguard done if you really want it, this car has had two properly applied coats of Supagard as far as I am aware. (He get's it free and my cars are done as he knows they are sometimes kept outside and makes it easier for me to reclean them before a viewing)

Of course you might enjoy polishing the car with something that's, well, polish :)

Aye that Meguiars looks decent I bought an alloy wheel brush under that brand and it is excellent!! Shame my non existant brakes just clutter the wheels with dust
