FRONT SPRINGS: part numbers.

Finally getting a refurb on the Sachs, thought I'd replace the springs whilst they are being done. Couple of questions for you guys.

- What are the part numbers for the springs?

- Are the original springs still available? - I've had a dig and found these (are these the ones)?

- anything else on the front I should replace? - I was thinking of power flex bushes and some new strut mounts - thoughts?

BTW - Ive owned T450 since 2006 Currently at 44.5k on the clock, treated myself to new plates, number plate light, front splitter (skoda), heater fascia and twingo washer jets recently seeing it's nearly 10yrs old.
all good at mo but full lock knocking has never been worse!

That is the correct number 8200514730 for the springs. I would change the top mounts as well, which bushes are you meaning? The temptation would be to do the lot whilst you're in there.

To be honest I love the car so much I'm never gonna sell it. So if I am going to spend some money on the little fucker I'd prefer to do as much as I can. I don't track it, fast road around the great Welsh roads mostly. I can justify a decent amount of funds as I don't replace my cars every 3 years etc. this ones a lifer:)
Im no mechanic so it's gonna cost me a bit in labour but I'm not worried about that. Basically I was thinking new bushes on everything on the front. Top mounts - thinking just get some new OEM for now, but could be persuaded on some solids.

Yep ordered springs recently from renault Wolverhampton.. £96 each which is obviously a bit pricey compared with similar eibach sportlines (which come with rears). But they are original.

dablk, what was the delivery time like on the springs? Assume it isn't something they keep on the shelf?

Dsturbed, I'm currently in the process of refreshing the front end on mine. I decided to go 'all out' with it, but mine has done significantly more miles (110k). Here's the haul of parts I have waiting to be fitted:

Steering rack bushes
Anti roll bar bushes
Inner track rods
Track rod ends
Wishbone bushes
Lower ball joints
Top mounts (to be ordered)
Springs (to be ordered)
Wheel bearings - not 100% sure there's any benefit in replacing the bearings, but I'm having the hub carriers powder coated so it didn't make sense to refit the old ones
All engine and gearbox mounts (4 in total)

Hi Tommo,
I am not entirely sure TBH. I also ordered an new ARB and that never showed up so had the rest of my delivery sent after giving up on that one. Generally they say 5-10 days and normally they do get bits in in that time frame.

If it was me and I was obsessed with keeping it original I'd buy a set of Renault springs for the loft, and fit some Eibach Sportlines, because they make for a more compliant ride IMO.

I'd also 'do a Tommo' and do the full front end, budget-dependent, of course.

I'd go OEM top mounts, plus you need the new Renault adapter/fitting kit/washers I think? Tommo might be able to confirm part numbers on that front.

And my final thought - don't people doing a suspension refresh also tend to change the wishbones as well?

My thoughts, when I do this it will be refurbed dampers, new springs, wishbones, top mounts etc etc. Good for another 40k.

Yeah most people do because Renault don't sell the bushes and lower ball joints separately. As above the cost is only £45ish each.

I can post part numbers and prices later on if it would be helpful for people?

If your on there replace the lot if your keeping the car, you wont need to do it again for years. Don't get solid top mounts for the road, too harsh and of no discernible benefit, i have just rebuilt my front end and put on renault top mounts.

Completely agree. Got to go all in if budget isn't an issue. It will be like a new car.

Thanks for the replays people:)

so what do you think of this:-

So far I have decided to do the following:-

new powerflex (purple) on everything on front end (inc dog mount).
OEM top mounts.
sachs refurb and new springs.

considering the following:-

engine mounts (OEM?)
new wishbones (the cars on 45k so not sure it's worth doing yet?)

remember the car is fast road only and covers less than 3k a year at the moment.


Another thing- I've got no Renault specialists near me (that I know of) - would you all be confident that a good Indy mechanic/garage can fit all this stuff no probs?

PS - part numbers for strut mounts (guessing they are just standard 182 items) and is there a genuine Renault top mount washer fix kit?

edit- just read a post about 'new' style Renault top mounts. - I'm guessing I need these if im going OEM.

if you are upgrading all your bushes ect with powerlfex bushes, would seem crazy not to get solid top mounts, check out PMS or AST, would be about best options

K-Tec - contacted them via email for a quote -no reply . These guys any good?
(actually it was their online quote thing after you have selected parts).

I really rate solid top mounts for the feel they impart, I am upgrading mine from Combrake to AST, but they make things pretty 'jiggly' in the cabin and I'm not daft enough to preach that they are a must for all.

Dsturbed, I've put together a list below of the part numbers for the items I ordered for my suspension refresh.

7701470760 - SMI Steering rack bushes - £20+VAT, 2 required
8200257957 - Wishbone (RHS) including new bushes and lower ball joint - £37+VAT, 1 required
8200257956 - Wishbone (LHS) including new bushes and lower ball joint - £37+VAT, 1 required
7700847383 - Inner anti roll bar bushes - £6.50+VAT, 2 required
7700784171 - Outer anti roll bar bushes - £6.50+VAT, 2 required
7701473656 - Inner Track Rod, includes new boots - £30+VAT, 2 required

As for the track rod ends, I actually sourced these via Euro Car Parts, opting for Lemforder as opposed to genuine Renault parts. From what I understand and I don't know this for sure, but I have been told Lemforder make the track rod ends used by Renault anyway (Renault just put them in their own box and double the price!). Either way, they come well recommended by others and that's good enough for me. The part numbers are 606745275 and 606745285, they're £15.78 each (or at least they were when I bought them).

I can't help with the part numbers for the top mounts unfortunately as I'm yet to order them, but when I do, I'll be sure to update this thread with the necessary details.

When it comes to getting everything fitted, a good indy will be fine, none of the above are particularly difficult to fit IMO.

Forgot to mention the engine mounts... I went for OEM lower gearbox, upper gearbox and upper engine mounts with a Powerflex dogbone mount.

I actually got the upper engine and gearbox mounts from GSF car parts, simply because I didn't feel genuine parts were worth the premium given they aren't particularly durable / good quality anyway. I think I paid in the region of £50 for both mounts. Unfortunately, the lower gearbox mount is only available from Renault and costs £40ish, but I wouldn't say its replacement is as essential as the others.

I would just add that changing the above alone made an unbelievable difference to the way the car drove and is not something to be overlooked!
