Hi Guys,

Right... alternator is not working.. its been checked and it definitely needs changed. Spoke to renault today and they're quoting £340ish for labour alone... plus £130ish plus for alternator. They have said that the front bumper has to come off... is this true???

Can someone help please.

Regards,

That is daylight robbery, taking the bumper off is not difficult, I suspect most of us could actually change an alternator if we had to.

Front bumper probably wont need to be taken off however the top bar with the bonnet lock will need to be moved into a position as to not get in the way when removing old unit this is held in by 4 bolts and the plastic cover. there should be 2 bolts or nut and bolt securing the alternator in position and the aux tensioner will need to be slackened off as to remove the belt oh and don't forget disconnect the battery before undoing the cables to the alternator as not to arc weld anything :D
