Air Filter/ Decat Insurance?

If replace the standard panel filter with a performance one do you have to tell the insurance company?
Do after market decat pipes look like the standard cat pipe, basically will the insurance company know say if you ever had to claim and they had to look at the car? do you all declare it or just hope you are never put in that situation?

Firstly, yes you should declare them.

Second, they may not check - but why give them an excuse if they do....

Thirdly, depending on who you are insured with they may not add anything to the premium. My lot don't.

You're more likely to get away with the filter than the pipe. The warrenty would be more of a worry though as Reno will blame any mods on anything that goes wrong... they look for an excuse. "your radio's stopped working because your decat pipe is making too many vibrations" Utter bull of course but that's Reno for you.
