My Trophy is currently at 34k miles and i'm looking to get the 36k service done aux belt and also i'm considering getting the cam belt done at the same time as the car will getting towards 5 years old.

I got a quote of RS Murray & Sons today for the service, aux belt + cam belt £778 all in. Does that seem about the right price? I know its quite a big job and the cambelt kit is about £150 on its own.

Everyone paid similar prices?

Cheers,

Andy

Just had 36k service done on 171 @ Rentec in Portsmouth...I had my cam belt changed early on this service because the aux belts will have to come off again next year to do the cam belt & was told by Renault that it would need another aux belt kit(or at least new belts)...Rentech quoted me £700 but it came in a little cheaper in the end (was going to get them to fit braided hose's when they changed the brake fluid but didn't order these in time...) so your price sounds fair the the amount of work involved. It will take the best part of the day for this service by the way & i'd check that the brake fluid is being changed as this is what Reno would do along with oil/filters etc...there was no mention of brake fluid with some garages when i was shopping around.
I was quoted £1300 from Reno for the full cam/aux belt service!!!! Im well chuffed an independent garage could save me over 50%...but then my brakes & exhaust need doing on top, so the bills haven't stopped coming in yet!

Stealer's! They would do it cheaper but it would've been non Reno parts (approved parts but not genuine). At least i know Rentec used Reno parts & i figured that a reno specialist service stamp would look as good to any buyer especially as it seems alot of people on here are moving away from Reno to the indie's...anyone looking for a Trophy would also be using this site for info...don't think i'll ever sell it tho!!

I got a quote from someone on renaultsport for a full service Inc belts plugs and brake fluid change for 500 quid. The fella is in the midlands. I'm in Leeds but I'm gonna take it there if the local place want 250 more. Plus I said I'd do the plugs myself so it will be even cheaper.

Also I know someone who had it done at a specialist in donny for 550.
Someone on rs has just had it done for 500 too!
780 IMO is a lot

Andy, it seems a tad on the high side... as a guide, I'm sure RenTech were quoting £350 for the cambelt.

Have you tried: http://www.birchdown.com/index.html ?

Thanks again marrow, phoned them up very helpful and now booked in for a service at a decent price

Very good place there, if slightly easy to drive past because they're in the middle of nowhere.

Yup and I did drive straight past :)

Well what can I say Birchdown were excellent, gave me the van for the day so I could get back to work and completed the 36k service + cam belt and sorted out an exhaust alignment issue for £570 all in.

Very pleased! =D>
