My 182 is due this in Sept but the car has just ticked past 15,500 miles. I think Ren-Tech will get my business.
Do you not fancy taking it to a specialist instead buddy?

Cue,

Thanks for the link - that's really helpful... mine's due later in the year.

Quick question though, if we use people like Mark Fish etc, will Renault still honour any warranty problems - i.e. if in my last service Mark says that a damper is fooked, then Will Renault just say... well you didn't have the service here so it nullify's the warranty (as you need to have a service by Renault every 2 yrs / 12k)?

Also - General question for everyone - are there anythings in particular we should look out for / check before the warranty is up at the end of the 3 year service (mine's only done ~14k so possibly things are still in good order that wouldn't be on a 36k car - don't want to get caught out in a year or so...)

yep the dealers rang back...£560 for the service, £38 for the mot and 4 tyres (still on originals) @ £120 a corner
not much change out of £1100
the funny thing was the dealers asked for the tyre size as they "didnt have a record of what goes on what" (their words)
sigh...

it's worth the trip to RS Murray and sons then imo. - 1.30hr down the road but you can have a wander round the student ville of headingley whilst they're doing the service and it'll save you a couple of hundred quid.

MOT is a standard price - I haven't done one for a couple of years so £38 is an increase on what I last paid (around £25 from what I remember) And don't go near a steeler for tyres - PE 2's can be had for sub £100 easily, you need the 205/45 V rated ones.

no to your first question - it's against the law for them to do that. you can have the car serviced anywhere.

regarding your 2nd Q, i'd say get the air con regassed, get the exhaust mounts changed, check the ECU bracket, possibly get any rattles looked into. I'm getting a list together to hand to a steeler to sort pre warranty D day...

Cue, this is a great idea re the list. Any thoughts or things to check would be really useful.

Mine expires at the end of June and I've noticed the ECU bracket has snapped. Is there a way of having this fixed by the stealers to ensure it doesn't break again? I'd expect them to simply change it and it break again in how ever long it took to break the first time.

Also, getting air con regassed, changing exhaust mounts etc would have to be paid for I. Or do you know a cunning way we can get this done on the warranty? I expect not.

Cheers.

I'm in London but I get my car serviced in Cambridge since it's usually much cheaper. I've just been quoted £550 for my 3 year service, does anyone know of any other options for me in the South East region?

hmmmm.. I was sticking to getting the car serviced every 2 yrs/12k miles, carrying out an oil change in between myself. Do you guys think that's a bad idea?

I've only just done 10k miles in the 1.5yrs that I've owned the car. Had it serviced a few hundred miles before 24k.

BTW. I had my ECU bracket fixed under warranty - no trouble from the stealers, they did it without any hesitation. :)

Cambridge? Angelworks are just south of there and then you've got Mark fish in Harlow.

I got my exhaust mounts changed under warranty - you've just got to argue with them.... when you factor in a new OEM exhaust costing £500+ it's cheaper for them to replace the 20p worth of rubber.

A few people have strengthened their ecu brackets with ties.. i'm yet to do anything with mine but will be looking at it when i have a free 5 mins the week after next :(

Not sure about the air con- i had it done under warranty with my BMW but knowing Reno they'll probably say it should be buggered after 2.5years so it classed as wear and tear.. i'd argue that it should last longer than 3 years!

Ive had my last 2 services done at mark fish and angelworks, but since then I have had more than my fair share of warrenty work done at John Pease Renault. Have been really happy with the work done so decided my next service will be with them. Great service plus the courtesy car is great so I dont have to waste any holiday. Jon the service manager says he will do discounts for all RS models.

I tend to go by either time frame - usually once a year (before winter) or every 12 months for a proper service... in between depending on use and mileage I change the oil and top everything up, check things etc.

i'm in a similar situation to a few others.
Had my 24K service back in March this year and now coming up to just under 26K. Can't afford another £500+ for another service this Sept when it reaches 3yrs. think i'll go for waiting till next March or when i hit 36K, this will also mean that the MOT and service will be around 6months apart which is a little easier to manage.

Loughborough but mainly on trackdays!
I have mine serviced as per schedule 12k or 2 years.

But also change oil & filter every couple of thousand miles as i get it FOC.

Also replaced brake fluid & coolant as i thought it needed doing.

Not bad seeing as only on 16K after almost 3 years.

I'm coming up to 36k service now. Luckily for me it's due at 32k as the 24k was brought forward so I've got a couple of months left before the aux belt needs doing. I'm also getting a list of faults for them including air con not cold even though it has already been re-gassed by Renault once in it's life, ECU bracket and a squeek from the osf wheel area when going over bumps. They already know they need to look at the exhaust for a rattle. I'm hoping it's a baffle rattle to justify a trip to yozzasport. They will love me by the time the car goes in because I'll be sure to find a few more things for them. I'm half tempted to get an inspection by aa/rac to see if they can find anything.

Ahhh, someone else who has found the Air Con not exactly cold, i have really noticed this with mine over the last month! maybe a trip is needed to Renault.
