Rollcage is overkill if your only going to do a few trackdays but harnesses are a good idea.
I'd say most important things are:
Brakes (You've already done them)
Air Filter / Induction kit
Exhaust with sport cat
Re-map
Second set of wheels with slicks
Rear Koni's
Mark Fish Springs and Geo...
Middle of the splitter fell off a week after I bought the car. Amazingly it looks symetrical so can't be bother to replace it until the other pieces fall off.
Mats came with the car and even though they are not the greatest looking they work and keep the carpets mint.
I live in Solihull so...
Decided to test the water with my car as I've been thinking about buying an M3 as a track car. Not really using the Trophy as much as I liked as I work from home and it has only done one track day and one ring trip in my possession.
Not really desperate to sell so will see if I get any bites...
S2000 is a no go as it's a soft top.
350z is out of my budget once you start adding trackday bits.
At the moment I'm thinking E36 M3 which can be picked up for 5-6k. Sell the interior, exhaust, brakes and anything else I'll be upgrading. Then add AP 6 pots, full cage, two bucket seats, full...
I did look into the pure trackcar market but as you mentioned I'd need to buy a trailer and tow car. I've got a couple of friends with the KTM X-Bow and love them to bits but at 50k way out of my league at the moment. The only other one would be the Atom but your still looking at 30k.
I don't...
Pretty much what I was thinking. I went out in my friends track prepped E36 M3 around the ring and it was epic. We were bating GT3's, E46 M3's, etc.
You need about 10k to make an E36 a real track weapon but you can do it in stages which makes it feasible.
After my recent trip to the Ring in my Trophy I felt the car was lacking outright power which is no surprise as I used to track and ring an E39 M5. I bought the car with the intention of using it as a daily hack but a have really grown fond of it especially it's capability on track.
I now need...
That was me :)
Got back on Monday, had to be one of my worst visits to the ring in a long time.
Only managed 7 laps over 2 days due to the stoppages :(
On a postive note the car was faultless and it seemed to go pretty well. Felt a bit underpowered but you'd expect it when your chasing...
My last 5 cars have all had CC and I think it's a great feature. I hate having to fiddle around the dials to get the right temp and then constantly adjust the fan speed.
I try to use my AC once a month as previously mentioned if you don't use it the compressor can seize costing a lot to fix...
I looked into it but decided on better bulbs.
The basic set up is actually very good and with the new Phillips bulbs I fitted a few weeks ago I'm happy with the results.

I'm running Pagid Blues (RS4-2) which came on the car when I bought it. I know the previous owner had used the car at Snetterton and the Ring and since then I have done Oulton and Silverstone.
The brakes have been faultless with numoerous high speed stops. Only quibble is you do get some brake...
Just checked Kwikfit and it works out to £104.50 per tyre as they add on fitting and balancing after the quoted price.
Think I'll book it into Costco unless my local guys can beat it.
Cheers for the info guys.
Costco quoted me 103 each fitted yesterday but have none in stock.
I don't need them urgently but I'm off to the ring next weekend and think they'll need doing on my return.
Will try Kwikfit and see if I can them booked for 2nd June.
Had the pleasure of using a friends car for the past couple of months while he was out of the country. Just handed him back the keys at the weekend and my garage now looks so empty. :(
Think it really looks good next to the Trophy. :D
Need to get some new rear boots for the Trophy.
Where's the cheapest place to pic up a pair fitted in Birmingham/West Mids or posted and I'll fit myself.
I'll be there at the end of this month. Will see how the trophy copes.
Hired a 197 from RSR last time went, wasn't to impressed by the car but got to grips with the wet line out there.
I'm hoping I picked mine up at the bottom end.
One of the main reasons for buying was a good friend gave a me a heads up that Evo were going to be doing the future classics article and the Trophy was featured.
I've noticed since the Evo print the cars have stabilised around 7k but hopefully...
I've got a Alpine 9887R with the imprint set up.
The bluetooth module is another £80 but I haven't bothered with it as I use my TomTom for handsfree.
Stalk control is also pricey on the Alpines at £70 so I'll live without it.
Looking at getting the car geo'd this Friday at a Pirelli performance centre as I have a friend who can get me a discount.
I've just spoke to them about the settings for a 182 trophy and got an interesting response. The centre uses a database of settings so if you want personal settings they...
I'm 30 and planing to use my Trophy as my daily hack but I only do about 5k year.
Previous rides:
Cavalier 1.6, Nova 1.0, AX GT, Uno Turbo mk2, Nova GSI, 205 1.4, BMW 325i Sport, Golf 1.6se, Ferrari F355 Spyder, C2 VTS, Ferrari 360 Modena and BMW M5
You could get a weighted gear knob which will improve the feel.
I fitted a short shift kit to my M5 and the weighted gearknow from the Z4M was essential to get the best feel for gear changes.
Other options is to attach some weight to the shift lever just below the gear knob.
