Hi all,

I'm a long time lurker on here, but have never posted anything.

Having read the first Trophy reviews years and years ago, I knew I had to have one. A combination of uni, city living, finances and getting married have all slowed down the process.

Until now.

Money went down on a new T yesterday. I hopefully go pick her up on Sunday. I cannot possibly begin to tell you how ludicrously excited I am.

I'll update fully as soon as I can, but til then, (and especially for all you London folk), I'd be grateful if you could please recommend:-

1. What specialist in London (or the outskirts) would you recommend for servicing? I'll go to Renaultsport if they'll do the best job, but if I can get as good service from a specialist, I'd rather do that.

2. I'm going to want the dampers to be fully refurbed at some point (more on this when I pick her up). From what I've read on here over the past years, BG Motorsport are the go-to guys. Now I've seen you guys will happily strip off the shocks yourselves and post them over to Silverstone, but I am, you might say, "mechanically challenged". Presumably I can drive over and leave the car there for a few days with them? Also, do they just do the dampers, or would you recommend they take a look at anything else (in particular given that my T will spend her days living on the street, til I can justify renting a garage to the missus)?

3. The exhaust may not last too long. Bearing in mind that I'd like to keep things as standard as poss, and I'd like to drive down the street with people thinking "what a fine car" and not "jesus, what's that booming racket", what would you recommend to replace an original with?

4. I'd like to upgrade the ICE for any motorway trips. Again, I read Max Power years ago when I was a kid and don't want a huge sub + speakers so I'm heard coming 2 miles away. I just want a bit of extra clarity and quality, with a new head unit and speaker package. Does anyone know a specialist supplier and fitter in the London area that I could go and speak to?

Sorry for the long note, but after a few years of lurking, I've had a few questions stored up...!

Cheers.

Whereabouts in London are you fella? I'm yet to find a 'specialist' in the area. BG motorsport, i believe, just do the work on the dampers, nothing else. They're very good folk, and will advise and help out where they can, but they're also busy. I have a BTB exhaust fitted to mine, and i like it, but may be a bit loud for you...i believe the RS192 is a nice sound and more reserved. The issue with a new headunit is that it looks odd in the dash as it'll stick out, you can find an upgraded renault head unit that'll give out more oomph, there's details of it on the forum, and they sell on ebay. I do know of a superb stereo/alarm shop, but it's in Hornchurch/Upminster that i've been using for 10 years now called Creative Car Audio, I don't go anywhere else. Good luck with the pick up!

Cheers for the tips mate - I'll check them out.

I'm based in south London. I'll let you know if I find a specialist in the area.

1. MWM Michael Woodford Motorsport based in Chertsey are widely recommended. Get yourself on Cliosport as well for all your info needs.

2. You can leave your car with them and get them to take your dampers off and refurbed. BG are primarily suspension guys I believe.

3. RS192 for relatively standards noise.

4. No idea on ICE...I find the standard system is good enough. Yozza provides the rest of the noise.
