Slight issue on start up

Hi guys

My T has recently developed a minor problem; on start up (usually during cold weather,early in the morning, etc), the car will not start at the first attempt. It sounds almost as if the immobilser is kicking in, as the engine turns, but doesn't start. However, it starts on the second attempt without fail.

I haven't had a chance to check out what the problem may be, but do you think it could maybe be spark plugs or starter motor related?

Are sure it's not just the battery, mine was on it's last legs for a while and sounds similar to what i experienced before replacing it. Don't know why it worked better after the first attempt but it just did

Mine does the same sometimes, especially when it's been sat stationary for a few days, or cold mornings, or early mornings , it's been doing it for years. It's as if its on some sort of timer and it stops trying to start after about 4 seconds, second attempt though it jumps into life straight away.

It's nothing to worry about.

Mine did this and has been cured since replacing the TDC sensor.
